Some real shocks here:rolleyes:

England squad: MP Vaughan (Yorkshire, capt), AN Cook (Essex), AJ Strauss (Middlesex), KP Pietersen (Hampshire), IR Bell (Warwickshire), PD Collingwood (Durham), TR Ambrose (Warwickshire, wkt), SCJ Broad (Nottinghamshire), RJ Sidebottom (Nottinghamshire), MS Panesar (Northamptonshire), JM Anderson (Lancashire), MJ Hoggard (Yorkshire).

As usual, it doesn't matter wether you're in form or even fit.

When the pressure is on he comes back with a big score like in NZ.

Still cannot understand why no Ramprakash, when our middle order batting tends to fold easier and quicker than my wifes washing.

Perhaps because Ramps is far too old and would be a complete short term measure. A couple of years ago I was all for his inclusion, but his time has well and truly gone now.

On a selfish note, we get to keep Wright and Prior, both of whom should have been selected.

Prior has started superbly, but then so has Ambrose so it's down to who's the best keeper, obvious I know, but I'm all for having a keeper who may put one or two chances down if they go and score 400+ runs in a series. The only issue is that Ambrose (and Collingwood) isn't fit which means the selectors still haven't learnt from the last two tours where half the squad we took were never up to playing.

Lets be honest, it's NZ and we should dispatch them 3-0 without too much effort.

you mean like we did earlier in the year?

Well we won the last two tests with that side of the two they played and with home advantage and May conditions we'll roll them over without too much bother.

I fear our batting will struggle again even against a pedestrian attack like NZ's but their poor batting and our reasonable bowling should see us win all three tests reasonably comfortably.
