I reckon the squad will be:

Pickford, Henderson, Pope

Mings, Maguire, Keane, Gomez, TAA, Trippier, Walker, Chilwell, Shaw

Henderson, Rice, Dier, Foden, Phillips

Sancho, Sterling, Rashford, Calvert-Lewin, Kane, Greenwood

We must have more central midfielders but my mind has gone absolutely blank on that score.

Southgate was given the go-ahead to attend Premier League games again at the beginning of this season. He chose Sheffield United v Wolves as his first fixture.....

Presumably to watch Connor Coady? The only Englishman I could see who was anywhere near the England squad. Excellent idea to see Coady up against the trickery of McBurnie and Billy Sharp :)

Any other country and Lamptey would be a dead cert for a senior call up surely.

Will Southgate?

1. TAA
2. Trippier
3. Walker
4. Reece James
5. Maitland-Niles
6. Probably somebody from Villa / Leicester....
7. Lamptey.

Dale Stephens now he’s at a big club?

Really though Southgate was a breath of fresh air when he started out, then there was all thet 'I pick on form not whether you play for a big club' bollocks, followed by doing the exact opposite. He's turned into an establishment dweeb, with favourites, and lack of focus. His 'thinking' and selections are informed mainly by what the talking heads say on Sky Sports. He'll be using the expression 'most certainly' next, but unlike Sir Alf, he'll never win anything *ahead of the ossification of his 'strategy'.

*I was inspired by the Everton press conference thread. Probably getting a bit ahead of myself.

TBH if we take off our blue and white specs for a moment its hard to make a case for any of ours. Lewis has suffered a dip in form and Tariq isina position where England have more optios than are needed. 6

No and as Dunk has not hit form yet this season I’d be totally amazed if he got picked. Lamptey needs to keep it up for a few months before he has any chance.

White is still learning and without the Bielsa input has not reached the required standard yet

I think Southgate is a complete Palace numpty but even as an Albion fan I wouldn’t pick one of our players at the moment

Good point re Dunk ...he’s not looked quite as commanding as her normally is

He's left out Greenwood & Foden in order to send them a message. Then re-selected Maguire. Dier was never dropped at all after he climbed into the crowd to fight a spectator. Presumably the message he sent was 'I haven't a single clue what I'm doing.'

Dunky has played four games so far this season: two against Man U, one against Chelsea and one against Newcastle. He looked fine against Newcastle and was worked hard in the other three games. Exactly the same as any of the centre backs selected would have been. Connor Coady got a recall despite being in a defence that conceded four to West Ham, three to Man City and lost to Stoke. Lets be honest. Dunk could be playing like Franz Beckenbauer, his face doesn't fit with the numpty in charge, who, I'll repeat, has never once come to the Amex to see him play. He's not getting picked again all the time that Southgate's in the job.

Dunk didn't play for the under 21s, that's it in a nutshell. Illogical, but his chance came and went. No idea why Southgate played him v USA and then didn't get a sniff after. What was the point. Did he poo in his coffee or something?

Probably so that Dunk could say that he played for England?

I think that was the second time he'd been called up to the squad, Southgate had presumably decided that Dunk wasn't for him but he has a thing about squad players getting game time, like in the world cup where only the third choice keeper got no minutes.

Which 2 right backs would you swap Lamptey for then?

You presumably think there are 2 better?

I don’t think it’s the club Southgate hates, I think he has a grudge against Dan Ashworth for walking out on him.

I don’t think he’ll pick a Brighton player until Ashworth is gone.

Let’s hope Southgate goes first.
