Should the whole Premier and Championship leagues have been cancelled, just so England reserves could trot off to another non-football country to generate more cash for themselves and a meaningless game of football....?

England, Ireland, France, Wales, Scotland(?), Brazil, etc etc, all have players in the divisions.

I know, but who cares...? It,s the English Premiership and Championship Leagues.

But the player who scored the winner for New Zealand plays for Plymouth. How many of the Irish and French players play in the premiership/championship? Arshavin is in Russia...

Yeah, f*** it, who cares, Robbie Keane, Shay Given, Dunne, Doyle, they're all only playing for a place in the World Cup Finals. Not a big deal after all.. :wozza:

No, we don't. Because it is called the Africa Cup. Not the WORLD Cup, the most important and honorouble tournament for any footballer.

I'm suprised the Championship fixtures never go ahead when the International games are on. Obviously certain clubs might have grounds for a postponement (Cardiff and Swansea, for example), but on the whole, is it a major problem in the Championship? Even if you lost half the fixtures, surely it would be better than cancelling the entire thing for the weekend?

Happily, it means Brighton get a game on the TV though so I'm not *that* opposed to the idea.

I take your point.....and I,m not wishing to argue......I just thought the League programme was cancelled because England were playing, and not because it was the World Cup play-offs for other poorer teams who failed in their World Cup Groups.

Fair enough.

Still, an International break is nice.

i think that only championship clubs that are missing an unreasonable amount of players should get a break

in reality are the likes of peterborough, barnsley, scunthorpe etc missing a huge amount of players?

Its an INTERNATIONAL weekend, even if England wernt playing the prem still wouldnt play.

You'll find that La Liga, Serie A, Bundegsliga etc would all have weeks off.

Scunthorpe would only miss 1 or 2 but Mccann is there best player by a mile.

Its best just to call all the games off

It wasnt meaningless. It showed that there are at least another 7-8 players who Capello shouldnt bother with again.
