without reading all this thread, my opinion is this world cup has the least hype I've ever known. Every one seems to be playing our chances right down

If Brazil don't finish top in their group, I will begin to believe...

Spot on mate. I know i've said it before but we really could do with Brazil not winning that tough group, ASSUMING we top our group. And obviously assuming we beat Serbia / Aus / Ghana / Germany and then prob France / Mexico in the 1/4s... We then WOULDN'T play Brazil if we got to the semi - prob Holland if memory serves me right...

But it is all ifs and buts - i'll def be supporting everyone vs Brazil in the grp stages - even those Portugese wankers

Isn't beating possibly Germany and then France a big IF.

Yep it is - BUT i don't think it will be the krauts in the 2nd round - think they'll top their grp. And yes it is a big if about beating France if we were together however i'm hoping on the logic that we are simply better than the cheating France...

Actually, looking at the progression I tend to agree, we probably wont end up with Germany and I do reckon we could beat France, why not eh? I would love it if England can put France out. Love it.

I've noticed less hype this time around. I think a contributary factor is there's less popular players and a less settled team than before.

Under Sven the starting 11 was set in stone and there were players we loved to love, like Becks, Owen, Scholesy.

Now, several arrests, extra-marital affairs and injuries later the team is less likeable and less coherent.

I reckon there's a fair chance it could be URUGUAY that we would face in the quarters.

Uruguay could quite conceivably finish top of their group, and in their 2nd round match they would play most likely Nigeria or Greece before facing us if we beat Serbia/Ghana.

Whats it all about, all those pathetic car flags, is it case of copy him/her or plain soppy ?? silly hats banners etc in the shops, no thanks... look were not gonna win rge world cup...end of.... our players arnt dedicated enough, its all money money money... im sorry but thats my opinion, which im entilted to... yeah we may beat all the pre donkey teams like the usa etc.. but as proved last time around.. come up against a proper team such as portagual and bang its all over, im no killjoy but lets face the facts... im not anti england ..dont get me wrong.. buts well well over hyped up im afraid ... sorry !!!!!???

Im with you to a certain extent. The main thing that pisses me off are the morons who flock to pubs, most of which have never been to a football match in their lives and claim to be the biggest football fans in England. Most of these are opinionated and loud mouthed. Thank god for large plasma screens, your back garden, cans of beer and BBQs meaning a good party can be enjoyed away from the dross in town centre boozers!
And at a fraction of the cost of going to a pub!

Part time football fans with their tabloid opinions :tosser:

That's said I'm still going to the pub, it should be ok where I'm going.
