Gareth Southgate was sitting a couple of rows behind me on Saturday at St. James Park.

Apart from Dunk and Anthony Gordon, who else could he have been watching?

Surely there are too many decent alternatives in front of Gordon for him to be in the squad?

If he went to see Trippier he saw him for all of three minutes...

Will Dunk go to the Euros?

I don't really buy into this theory that because Dunk made a mistake in the last game that that's his chance gone. It would be pretty ridiculous if that is the case. I reckon he has a good chance. He's only going to play if Maguire or Stones get injured though, so it's probably better for the Albion if he doesn't go.

Well, he COULD have ben casting his eye over...

Dunk and Gordon, plus

..the following who would be in his wider thinking...
Tino Livramento
Kieran Trippier
Harvey Barnes
and Nick Pope, had he come on

Also England qualified:
Lewis Hall
Dan Burn
Sean Longstaff
Elliott Anderson (though he's probably going to play for Scotland)
Adam Webster
Adam Lallana
Danny Welbeck
Jason Steele

In short - a lot more than in most PL matches.

yeah agreed, I would hate for Dunk to get picked and get an lengthy injury caused by Pascal in the last 16 during Germanys route to the final and ultimate victory.

I think Dunk has been poor this season, so I don't think he should go based on form reasons

I think you're forgetting the manager is Southgate - you can get picked for England even if you've only played a few minutes all season, and regardless of the quality during those few minutes. So in short - Dunk has a chance but he'd have a better chance if he'd played about twenty minutes all season.

Lack of pace makes me doubt Dunk is good enough against decent International sides. He has had a few bad moments in European and International matches against quality forwards. The competition isn’t much better in fairness though

He definitively hasn't been "poor" this season. Obviously, its far from a perfect system, but Dunk has a rating of 6.75 on WhoScored. That's vs. Stones (6.55), Konsa (6.65), Guehi (6.53).

He's not been at his usual high standards and certainly had a few poor games, but to say he's been poor this season is extremely harsh. He's only made 1 error leading to a goal in the PL (and 1 in the EL), has the 2nd most completed passes in the PL (behind Rodri) and has played 42 of the available 49 matches this season.

I'm a huge fan of Dunk, but that statement (re mistakes leading to Europa League goals) is definitely not true.

He had a minimum of two howlers leading to goals (Marseilles away and Roma away)

Dunk's recent England appearances came at the worst possible time, i.e. just after our elimination from Europe and coincided with De Zerbi's 'wobble'. I believe he needed the mental and physical rest, but he didn't get it and he was not at his best. A fully fit and rested Dunk is a different proposition though, and I still believe he possesses qualities that the likes of Maguire and Guehi don't have, i.e. the ability to play the long pass and be comfortable on the ball.

I think high profile matches vs Chelsea and Man Utd will give him an opportunity to show his class.

Tactically though, I'm not convinced that having Declan Rice sitting so deep for England - or Southgate's slow build-up and cautious tactics - suits Dunk, On many occasions where he would ping a pass for the Albion he played it short to Rice.

It would be fun to watch Dunk play for England in the Euros but from an Albion viewpoint I'd prefer him to have a month off in the sun.

I think Dunk will go. He won't play though. Maybe in the third game if already qualified from the Group.

No way has he been 'poor'. His form dipped a bit, but I bet his name is still pretty much first on the team sheet along with Gross.
When fit, Mitoma is the first name. Comfortably our most important player.

I wouldn’t take Dunk to the Euro’s to be honest but I would take Gordon. He is absolute quality. Terrifies defences, similarly to Mitoma actually.

Be surprised if he goes now. Few high profile errors (including for England) all came at the wrong time and not sure he’s considered a safe enough pair of hands now with a few younger players who’d likely benefit more for the experience.

Calling him poor this year would be harsh but there are definite signs of the decline. Still one of the first names on our team sheet but you need to do better than that for Southgate if you play for Brighton.

I think Southgate cares more about familiarity with the group, than form.
Dunk has been in the last 3(?) squads and that will count for more than being in his best form.

Is Maguire expected to be back in time?
If not, I'd be amazed if Dunky isn't selected.

They’ve increased the squad sizes from 23 or 26 I believe so based on that Dunk is a shoe in for selection, but I don’t think he will play. Stones and Maguire will start baring injuries and I’m pretty happy with the pairing.

Southgate making noises about not taking 26 even though he can.

I don't think Dunk will go tbh

I'm still chuckling from listening to the Stelling show on Monday morning. He listed Dunk and the Palace short arse (out injured for ages) and then questioned a guest who listed Reece James because he hasn't played much.
