Germany, Holland and Spain aside I doubt there is many teams that would fancy coming up against us. I'm not saying we are world beaters, but I think we may surprise a few people in the coming weeks.

I wished i shared your optimism..........That's the beauty of these Euros. The team are not being built up as world beaters and we can watch them with no expectation or pressure. Don't forget Denmark and Greece have won this tournament and no one gave them a chance

Only because we make them work harder than normal, until they get bored then change up a gear. if you watch England regularly, you would have noticed we cannot change our game to suit the opposition, we had a chance with HR and typical FA, as with Brian Clough, we missed the boat.

You need to read a book called 'Why England Lose: And other curious phenomena' by Simon Kuper and Stefan Szymanski. It's fascinating and actually dispells the myth that we under achieve.
The England team actually over achieves in world football. Crazy but true!

Like I said before, we can get as far as the semi's and anything passed that is a bonus BUT I believe we can win it, have faith. I doubt the players are going into the tournament thinking " oh this is pointless, we're just going to get knocked out " so why does everyone else?

Well said mate. I have made this point for years on here - people seem to turn into plastic 'if we dont win the world cup we're shit and there's no point' fans when it comes to England. Pathetic. Support your team - even if we were Moldova I'd still watch my Country and support.
Another true point people miss. We've been a top 10 ish world side for a long time. We're a fairly small country compared to most. Do the Russians do better than us? Do they f***. People expect to much. Euro 96 / WC 98 etc - some of my best football memories - the feeling of the whole country united behind our lads. I'm sure it will happen again - there are some of us still feeling that way (i think they're called SUPPORTERS)

Hey Woy has a habbit of doing great things with so called crap teams. The bookies have us down as 4th favourites for the Euro's, mind you i think that has more to do with the money that people put on us to win. At 10/1 i'm going to have a punt.

I've seen us put out better teams it's true but, you never know. Remember, when the groups were drawn ?, the sighs of relief that we have not really drawn more than 2, " tasty" teams ? We have high hopes of making the knockout stage but I have had my false hopes dashed so many times since Mexico '70.... but maybe, when we don't have a hope in hell,when we don't over hype our hopes you never know, million to one shots turn up nine times out of ten after all....
Spot on. Far too many 'premiership' England fans on here with a false sense of entitlement, but at least the unfounded over-expectation is missing this time. Still expecting a bombastic Sky advert and some unrealistic tabloid headlines though.
Looking forward to it, and I'll still be English regardless of performance.
