Whose idea was that?
It's the sort of response I get when I tell people I have no interest in the national team.
"But...but...why? You're English aintcha?!"

I support Brighton because my Dad does. I'd imagine if he support Man U then I'd support them.
EDIT: I guess club support is, or can be, a choice. The idea that I have to support the national team because I happen to be English doesn't truck with me.

I thought Raheem Sterling and Jesse Lingard looked particularly good and that we controlled the game. It was actually quite a refreshing England performance, especially when you consider the Dutch (with Propper starting) then played Portugal off the park last night.
You have to admit, it is hard to get behind England when they are coached by f*cknut after f*cknut. I mean Gareth Southgate, he picks big time Charlies regardless of form. And Jake Livermore. Christ.
I see from the traffic on the site today about this, that everyone is BUZZING for this game.
As ever a little WAGER offers at least some interest in proceedings. Couldn't see any value in the betting mind, so limited to a little treble myself:
ENG-ITA draw
GER-BRA draw
ESP-ARG draw at a combined 35/1
The Germany Brazil game is on BT Sport. Might well end watching that one, when the England game inevitably disappoints

It's a weird one; England are definitely becoming more watchable, and Italy are capable of the sublime and ridiculous in equal quantity. I keep on thinking this could be a good game to watch until I'm reminded that it's an ENGLAND FRIENDLY.
Also....a slightly odd thread to find yourself on, unless you really like the Italian national team?
I'll stand by it. I find that those who don't have an interest in the England team LOVE to tell people about it.
Right!? Nothing like supporting a team just because you happened to be the one sperm that got through and, when you won the first race of your life, your parents happened to live within one set of borders and not another! WOO! GO ENGLAND GO!!
Like many, my interest in the national team has waned massively in recent years. The boredom of qualification which used to be really exciting, the pointlessness of friendlies which used to at least seem to have some relevance to proper matches and of course the utter crap that we've been served up at every recent major tournament.
I look at the squad and it depresses me. I look at the manager and it depresses me.
However, I'll probably watch (at least some of) the match tonight and when it comes to the World Cup I will be ALL OVER IT and supporting England with the same optimistic fervour as ever. Until we end up being shite again.
It's just what you do isn't it. If I could help it and just say "nah I don't give a shit" then I probably would, but I can't.
I thoroughly enjoyed our performance the other night. The intent to play out from the back and dare to move around the pitch was really encouraging to see.
Oh sorry. I forgot it's not cool to like England.
I know, from some of the comments on this thread you’d have thought we’d played badly let alone the offensive thread title to our country’s name
Don't you have a volume control on your sound bar?I'll wager the band makes everybody turn off by the 8th minute

Is Schelotto playing?
