Brighton & Hove Albion will announce the 2013/14 Player of the Season at tonight’s end-of-season Player Awards Dinner at the Amex – and for the first time ever, fans can watch live on seagulls.co.uk.

The evening starts at 7pm for attendees, with a welcome from chairman Tony Bloom, before dinner – which is followed by the awards ceremony and live coverage, commencing at 9.30pm.

Rediffusion tellys! Those were the days!

I vaguely remember one year, there was a table on the pitch for the presentation, with some banner advertising either Rediffusion, or whichever local company supplying it, pegged out in front.

One of the opposition players, seem to recall it was Kevin Francis, tripped over the pegged out rope as he ran on the pitch.

Yeah, Gary Chivers won the main trophy, Garry Nelson picked up the Junior Seagulls award, and Robert Codner received a special Albion In The Community certificate of merit. Emotional scenes all round
