Crutches and a knee brace? Really? How the hell did that happen ffs?
I expect there's a lot of middle aged 6 a siders on here who know very well how to tear their meniscus playing on a Thursday night ha ha . I tore mine last year - its ok now but took quite the while to recover. Luckily its a lot quicker if you're not as ancient as me. And fingers crossed its not a bad tear . Could well be a strain .

Yep, I did it earlier this year playing 7 aside at Goals!

30 plus years of playing, never did it. Turn 40 and ping!

The medical team did wonders for Estupinan last week and that was an ACL. So this should be a breeze.
Clearly did a decent job on Caicedo's hamstring too, only a few days later he was walking into Chelsea without any sign of injury

Correct. I tore mine playing football in 2015, then again in 2016 and I've had five knee ops since. It's been hard but I've had to come to terms with never making it in the pro game.

I'm 53.

If its meniscus, then it really depends how bad the tear is.
In 2014, Nick Matthew defended his title and won Commonwealth Gold at squash just 5 weeks after an operation for a meniscus tear.

Correct…could be as simple as a minor trim using keyhole surgery for example (meniscectomy) - can basically be load-bearing immediately afterwards and as Matthew proved return can be rapid.

Hope he hasn’t done anything serious. Guess RdeZ will provide an update in his press conference (tomorrow?)

"If it were a grade I sprain, recovery would take 2 weeks. If it is grade II, it increases to 4 weeks. If it were a meniscus injury, it would take 1 month (Julio Enciso's injury)" Dr. Daniel Amarilla, Traumatologist.
