Is she wins, she'll be nailed on to win it. She's already favoruite.

Just goes to show how you can equal Eddy Merckz record and a couple of months later you're fighting for maybe third spot.

And so much for bagging more Olypic Medals than anyone ever!

Driving a car fast consistently? Pah!

TBH I'd still vote for Sarah Storey over Emma if she wins 6-0 6-0 tomorrow

I fully understand that the term 'Personality' in the SPOTY accolade refers to 'known person' rather than the individual's character or qualities. But in a year when there have been so many stand-out achievements, it could well be personality that tips it one way or the other. Some of the Team GB Olympians delivered some fantastic medal wining achievements this year, but God they are a dull bunch. As is Lewis Hamilton; awesome driver, but about as engaging as flat tyre. I imagine this is what happens when you have been around elite level sport for long enough and learn that is probably best to treat the media in a very neutral manner. In comparison, Raducanu is a breath of fresh air with an off-court persona and way of connecting and communicating that people seem to immediately relate to and warm to.

I understand why Sarah Storey is held in high regard obviously, but why is it never considered that Paralympians are partaking in minority sports that only a fraction of the world's population are eligible for? It's very hard not to come across as crass in explaining this and I genuinely don't mean to belittle Storey's achievements at all, but surely it must said that Storey has faced a fraction of the competition that Laura Kenny for example has had to beat. I'd use the same argument against Formula One drivers, yet that hasn't stopped them winning SPOTY either.

Yes, fair shout.

And as for the suggestion that Mark Cavendish could be in the running?! No chance!

Because I have an ac.uk email address they assumed I am a student, so I have been paying student rates.....

There isn't much on the Amazon telly channel that interests me, and I am not a movie watcher but free delivery on a range of productes more than pays for it.

Plus of course I have watched our Emma smashing her opponents recently :rave:

Not forgetting a fair few live Albion games

thats not a logical comparison, Raducanu is ranked so low because she only starting out and hasn't developed a ranking, but she is clearly a top class player. There' not a gulf in ability as there would be with 2 football teams 6 or so divisions apart

For sure, but she has come from nowhere (in ranking terms) in the space of two months and has smashed the field in NINE matches without ever looking like dropping a set.

It is an unimaginable, once-in-a-lifetime achievement.

Love her humble background, ITN just showed her family home.

Tennis and cricket - so often British stars come from serious money and privilege …. Tiger Tim.

Here from raw talent and hard work.

Will her parents be in New York tomorrow? (I assume they haven't been up to now, they certainly weren't shown yesterday whereas the Greek lass's mum was).

I wonder how the Greek player’s parents got through Biden’s Iron Curtain?

Directly from Europe, the US have policed no entry resolutely for 18 months.

She was faster than Laura Kenney at the commonwealth games in 2010 and she was in contention for one of the three individual pursuit places for London 2012.
