You're talking to me about upsetting Muslims????

It's all I keep reading about, A senior muslim police officer making accusations of racism and bullying withing the police force and muslims getting upset about being sniffed by police sniffer dogs ( allthough it's the dogs I feel sorry for ) Whats going on then?

Clearly the Argus is having a slow news day: emergency landings (and I'm not even sure that's the correct term) are surprisingly common at LGW, as with most major airports.

Happen fairly regularly, mainly for precautionary reasons, but it's standard practice to have all the emergency services on standby.

Keeps them on their toes, eh?

Concurred...

Own up then - Who told the Argus??

Came home from Prague on Sunday night and landed at Gatwick. Always shits me up a bit when you hear the undercarriage clonk into place. Mind you, I'd be even SCAREDER if I didn't hear that sound I suppose.

The worst noise to hear on a plane - no noise. Imagine that; the engines just shutting down.

Enjoy your next flight :lolol:

Breaking news on the Argus site...

A woman stepped in front of a bicycle, but the cyclist managed to avoid her.

Do you know the pedestrian? Do you know the cyclist? Leave us your thoughts.

any updates on this breaking story???

Me neither, although I'm not quite in the Dennis Bergkamp bracket. I will fly simply because if I want to go on nice holibobs I have to. I'm flying to Protugal one week tomorrow and am already getting a tad nervous.

Not many things in life scare the crap out of me but flying is one of them, I've only ever been on 4 planes and now i've decided to quit while i'm ahead.

I too am terrified of flying. I once was heard to shout 'I' don't want to die' on a particularly bumpy flight back from Budapest. However i have found ways of dealing with it...

1 - red wine
2 - compared to the take off from Rekjavik in a blizzard any flight is a doddle.
3 - Take a 2 year old - We went to California the other week and the flights were the last thing on my mind.

Stricken aircraft prepares for descent

By Andy Naylor

Firefighters have been put on standby at Gatwick Airport as a plane with hydraulic problems prepares to land.

Crews are not permitted to disclose any details of any incidents at the airport because of security fears but is understood firefighters from Crawley and Horley and surrounding areas were called shortly after 11am this morning.

It is not believed that Mark Magee is on the above flight.
Magee took the Albion into the Championship in 2004 but was sacked unfairly 2 years ago with Dick Knight bleating that he had lost the fans.
