Email spam removal programs

Can anyone recommend a good one (preferably free). I currently use AVG Free, which in theory does have a spam filter, and it had always been pretty good, but in the last month or so I've been getting loads of crap email from the usual viagra/porn/dodgy investments sites.

gmail? I get more crap through my gmail account than all other email addresses combined. At least 15 a day on addresses never put in the public domain...

Not sure I've ever had a spam mail make it to my inbox on my gmail account.. current count shows 874 in my spam folder though.

That's the same for me but what pees me off is how many come through at all.
