Interestingly Poyet says he "hopes" we can keep hold of him, whereas he said we would definitely keep hold of Murray. Obviously thinks the big boys will be after him.

Well at least we know as we paid £200k for him, he will only go if someone offers big money (£750k at least). There would be no pint selling otherwise.

Anyway, he's not at that level YET, so he won't be going anywhere this season at least.

But he doesn't do enough when we lose the ball for me. Many occasions in the first half he was too high up the pitch when Saints were breaking, leaving us effectively with a 3 man midfield.

Are you talking about Elliot Bennett? He backed up El Abd again and again on Saturday after about 30 minutes. The man covered miles tracking back.

Absolute class act - if we can keep Murray and Bennett happy and fit for next season we might have a real chance of a promotion push.

Imagine he'll go to Championship in January though.

My mate last night said he had a shocker in 1st half last night.
I told him he was the best player and perhaps he should go to Specsavers.
Only thing we could agree on was that sometimes his final delivery is poor, but you see right wingers in the Prem with poor delivery!
He will play at a higher level and I bloody hope it is with us!

Yes, a first half shocker apart from getting in behind them 4 or 5 times and single-handedly making the goal.

Perhaps he was 1 of the blokes behind me who gave Gus a 20 minute honeymoon and then started moaning and swearing at the Albion at every opportunity. What do people want?!?

Really good player and has got fantastic defensive capabilities to boot which IMO is priceless and very rare at this level.

I have noticed his crossing and corners have been quite poor in the last 3 games or so and if that doesn't pick up that part of his game again I don't think many big clubs would look to sign him up. Can only think of 1 or 2 decent balls into the box last night and for the previous 2 games, whereas a few weeks ago every single cross was practically perfect.

He is a great talent as he can beat players with skill/speed, defend as if he was a first choice right back, has a great shot on him, and has the ability to cross the ball inch perfect.

Here's to him staying at the Albion and having his testimonial at Falmer.

I did a thread after about his 3rd game saying the exact same thing. The guy is a class act. He can cross. Shoot, run, pass and defend. My favourite player by some distance and he is OURS.

It took you three games to realise he was class?

I didn't go to the away games. His first game at withdean he didn't get much of the ball.

So yes. It took me 3 games.

If it's the game I'm thinking of, his first game at Withdean he got the ball TWICE, because Dickinson was lumbering down his wing getting in the way.

1st time he got the ball, he produced a gorgeous cross that was headed in.

2nd time he did exactly the same, unfortunately this one was not converted, but the cross was just as quality as the first.

From that game on I could tell he was absolute quality.

I knew he was quality from the day he was born.

Yep, agree with that. I'd like to see him go to the byline a bit more often.

I dont think he needs to, I quite liked the way we were crossing early rather than taking it to the goal line and giving the deence a chance to get back.

Early crosses in behind the defence are dagerous, how many times have you seen a defender trying to get it away and headding it into his own goal?

I knew he was quality just from reading his name.

All this talk of 'wishing we had another like him'...

We should get his brother KYLE BENNETT down here on loan from Wolves.

He's apparently equally LIGHTNING. He's a striker really, but we could play him on the left, and let the pair of them TERRORISE the full backs of league one.

I remember watching Neil McNab tuck away a penalty to put us 1-0 at home to Southampton in 1981.

Even then, as a 9 year old with teeth nearly as appallingly wonky and hideous as NMH's are now, I remember thinking "one day we will be playing host to Southampton and there's going to be this winger called Elliott Bennett, and this boy is going to be f***ing QUALLA."

I said that. You ask my DAD.
