Albion boss Russell Slade has completed the signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers exciting young winger Elliott Bennett.
The 20-year-old right-sided midfielder joins Albion for an undisclosed fee, signing a three-year deal, and goes into the squad for Saturday's game against Stockport County.
He said, "Elliott is someone we have been after for a while, and he is certainly one for the future; he is a lively wide player, with good pace and is an exciting young prospect.
"Mick McCarthy and Wolves were reluctant to let him go - but Elliott spent last season at Bury, and got the taste for playing each week, and he was keen to come to Brighton, where he'll get more opportunities to do that.
"With that in mind, the chairman and I have perserved throughout the close season, to the point where Wolves were probably getting fed up with us, but I am delighted that perserverence has now paid off."
Bennett spent a season and a half on loan with Bury, where he made over 65 appearances for the Shakers. After impressing during a three-month spell at the end of 2007/08, the winger spent last season on loan at Gigg Lane.
He made two senior appearances for Wolves, both in the League Cup at the start of 2007/08; he's also spent time on loan with Crewe Alexandra in League One.
Telford-born Bennett will wear squad number 26 at Albion, and will link up with his new team-mates today for training at Withdean, ahead of Saturday's match.

We may have a load of wingers but they're all crap. 4-5-1 can work with decent attacking wingers, I don't see the harm in getting a new one in - the central midfielders may look better if they have some viable outlets.

Young Wolves winger Elliott Bennett has today joined Brighton on a permanent deal. * The 20-year-old makes the move to the League One side for an undisclosed fee and has signed a three-year contract. * Elliott first joined Wolves at the age of nine and at 12, captained Wolves to success at a prestigious tournament in Japan prior to the 2002 World Cup. * He signed a scholarship in July, 2005, before agreeing a three-year professional contract in February, 2007. * His senior debut for the club came in the Carling Cup victory over Bradford in August, 2007, and he also played in the defeat to Morecambe in the same competition shortly afterwards. * Elliott enjoyed a loan spell at Crewe during the 2007/08 season, scoring one goal in 11 appearances, before finishing the season at Bury where he struck once in 19 games. * That prompted a return to Gigg Lane last season, where he played in all 46 of Bury's League Two fixtures and both legs of the play-off semi final defeat at the hands of Shrewsbury, scoring three goals during the campaign. * "Elliott has been with the club for a long time and was another successful product of our Academy," said CEO Jez Moxey. * "With promotion to the Premier League, the football management felt that his chances here were going to be limited, and Elliott is at an age where he wants to be playing regular football. * "We certainly didn't want to stand in his way, and a move to a club like Brighton is a great opportunity for him, particularly having enjoyed such a successful season at Bury. * "We'd like to think Elliott for his efforts, and wish him all the very best for the future." * Elliott is set to go straight into the Brighton squad for Saturday's game against Stockport. * *
