Do you think there will be any at the Amex? Most newish grounds seem to have them nowadays. I personally don't want them as watching games on the TV they just seem to be a distraction (although i have never seen them at a live game) and I know they are a good way of making money through the adverts but do we want them? or are they an unwanted distration? :glare:

They're no big deal. They even have them over here. Once you get used to them you stop noticing them.

Apart from anything else, I can't see how they're not distracting for the players - after all, they're (presumably) trying to keep a mental picture in their heads of where everyone and everyting is.......but the back-ground keeps moving! I guess they must have got used to it, but can't say I like it myself.

I may be wrong, but I always thought the picture was angled upward slightly so that it wasn't noticeable from pitch level. Can't remember where I got that from though.

Do they?

Interestingly, I'm pretty sure you'll find that they are almost always provided to the (big) clubs FREE of charge, as part of the advertising deal (with the advertising pre-sold).

Nothing is free these days. If the club get the boards for free then you damned sure the club will pay for it in the long term with a decrease in the money from the actual advertising.

Cheers mate. Interesting - I hadn't heard that but it sounds a sensible idea

they look OK when you watch a game on tv, but what you cant tell from the position of the camera's is that clubs are not allowed to display the same single advert across the whole ground at the same time, therefore many grounds i have been to only have electric board round 3 of the 4 sides, with normal advertising boards covering the final 1/4.
