Swindon, but used to be Manila
Just got my electric bill and for the summer months its averaging £50 per month. it seems very high to me.

the house is 3 bedroom ( but only 1 occupied) we have 2 tvs, but only ever one on at a time, 1 fridge, 1 freezer, surround sound, sky box, , Laptop, the cooker is gas. Lights are all new low power bulbs.

Any good websites to work out appliance monthly cost/usage?

The company (southern Electric ) are going to send a monitor.

Is £50 average per month or does it seem high?

thats about all the electrical appliances

I pay £150 per month...usual bills can be up to £450 for winter and £230 for summer.

There is 4 of us tho, LCD in each of the 3 beds, conservatory to heat to 10 deg c, tropical fish tank, dish washer and washing machine on almost daily.

I think £50 pm is excellent

I'm in a 3 bedroom new build (well, it's 5 years old now) in Swindon and pay £25 a month. I'm pretty anal about turning things off and buying things which run economically (half of which probably never save me the premium price paid).

Have a look at my website Utility Warehouse

We offer great savings on electricity, gas, phones & broadband as well mobile phones. If you use the Cash Card you can get further savings just by shopping normally.

PM me if you are interested. I just need a copy of your most recent fuel bills (take off the address) but let me know the town you live in and I can get a quote for you.

Our's was about the same (ie £1,800pa) until end-October but we've a 3 bed, 17th century draft box. No gas/oil but probably another £125pa on logs for the inglenook and stove - £50 on electricity sounds ok to me.

£50 seems pretty good to me.
My home is 3 bedroom semi. My wife and myself are paying approx £100 per month in summer and up to double that through winter!

Why not just take a reading now then take a reading this time next month, that will give you your units used over a month. You can the work out the unit cost plus any standing charges over that month period so you can see if this is about right. The DD is designed to go up or down based on your actual usage proving you give the company a reading when they ask for it. If you have not given a reading for ages and your DD is based from a long history of estimated bills then it could be wildly incorrect

That seems about right to me, my situation is pretty similar to yours (property size, stuff running, etc, etc), I reckon my bill is around the amount you mention.

£50 a month is brilliant - we're at £110 a month at the moment ) 3 bed house with 3 car workshop/machine shop) - but I don't spose you weld at home do you.

We tried looking at Utility Warehouse but given that our account with Southern was a projected £350 in arrears (they subsequently upped the DD) it would have cost a fortune in cash to move. We *may* have got it back over time but I can't stump up that much in one month so we sit tight.
