Do you worry about getting stopped by the police and having it confiscated? (When you’ve bought one obviously 😉)
I was in London a couple of weeks ago and there were about 8 old bill standing around an incident. A bloke rides right through on his scooter and they barely raise an eyelid.

That reassured me quite a bit

Interesting…..a quick and brief google search led me to believe that the Met were one of the only forces to ‘crackdown’ on illegal use 👍

Probably too busy with more important things

I might be wrong on this, but I reckon if you're not riding recklessly, they will just leave you to it.

The main reason I want it is to get to the Amex from Hove, so I'm looking for one with a decent range.

Got to say, I don't ever remember seeing one parked outside the stadium

I've also got a strong opinion that this debate shouldn't be another culture war front. We're all just people trying to get places aren't we?

I was thinking the same …can’t remember seeing one in the cycle racks ….do you think you’d feel comfortable using it on the roads, or prefer a relatively quiet pavement

Same as a bike I reckon. Mostly on roads, the odd cheeky little stretch into the pavement when safe to do so

I reckon scooters are more dangerous statistically than bikes, but that's only because they can go much faster. I'm just going to pootle around.

I reckon I'll be safer as I can jump off in a emergency much easier than on a bike

Not really. Car drivers don't usually use the pavements.........

Let me stop you there.

Pavements are for pedestrians.
The number of cars parked on pavements around here ( and no doubt many places) really is ridiculous.
As a pedestrian I prefer to avoid walking in the road, but so many entitled motorists seem to think that their car is more important than any pedestrian.

Maybe the poster was referring to driving on the pavement a distance….whereas I THINK you are talking about cars parking on them ,,,, I think most of us would support you there :)

Edit beaten to it

Just out of interest do you feel the same way about cyclists?
Yes. Sometimes they're bloody dangerous. I've almost hit a couple of cyclists when they've shot reds, and who would pay for the damage on my car if I had?
They should be licensed and insured.

You can't license a bicycle . . . . . But . . . . Maybe . . . For grown up warriors . . . . You wear a lid, on the road, with what is effectively a tax disc . . . . Your personal identity, and insurance. . . If you choose not to, then you're fair game in the mix.

So you nearly hit someone and your chief concern is the damage to your car?

So can we just run them over them, then? Damn, I could have had two of them in Bristol this evening!

Yes.
If they want to shoot red lights knowing that several tonnes of metal could be coming from a different direction at speed then let natural selection do it's thing.

I cycle to work, most days, the arrogance and entitlement as well as the agressive and 'f*** you' attitude of some drivers is staggering. The same can be said for some cyclists. I get the impression many cyclists haven't heard of the highway code, let alone read it, or passed a cycling proficiency test.

What @Gabbafella was implying is, if an uninsured cyclists breaks the law by jumping lights, gets hit by his car, he'll be at a loss, that's hardly fair. I worked with a guy who lost his no claims bonus because he was hit by a cyclist. Hardly life changing, but a glitch.

If you're on the road with that kind of attitude I really don't care if you get squashed. It's not like we're short of population!
