Not sure how hard it can be going a few hours without a cigarette be it real or an e-cig.

They are unlikely to lift ban on the fake ones for reasons already given

I sat in the WSU for a few matches last season and there were bigger boys right up the back smoking. It was a bit like being back at school tbf.....

Unless you have smoked you'll have no idea how hard it can be

Not the real one
I think you would undoubtedly get constant misunderstandings/binfests both from slightly overzealous stewards and from jealous smokers lighting up when they see someone else has.

This is the exact reason they are banned on Aircraft. Some airlines permit them but BA don't. Then again, its a bit more serious at 35000ft if someone lights up a real one!

If you are trying to stop smoking, surely 2 hours without a fag can only be good. I smoke but find no hardship in waiting till after the game for fag. Once the game has finished go out side and light up your electric fag!!!

Or just stick it down your sleeve and have furtive tokes on it whenever?? As it's not a real cig it's not going to burn holes, and it's not hurting anyone!?!

i did suggest a compromise, whereby the were not permitted in the stand, but ok to use on the concourse.
as yet no reply, although it was a good month before i got a reply in the first place

I'm against them being used in the stands but I don't see why it should cause an issue in the concourse, people tend to be close enough together that there shouldn't be too many moments of confusion (you'd hope).

The only thing I'd ask (as a non-smoker so if it sounds daft then forgive me), is it not possible that using an electric one is likely to upset regular smokers (or maybe those trying to quit?) simply as they're not allowed to light up? I know the experiences aren't too comparable from watching my girlfriend transition from roll-ups to electric but surely it could cause some antagonism?

I have smoked for 20 years. I could go longer than a few hours without one though. So, i do know. I just do not feel the need to have one until after the match. What do people do whilst on a flight for example. It is just a few hours

i am a smoker, thats one reason why i bought one...just to take the edge of the craving....and to cut down of course. reduced my roll up intake by 50% since ive had it

I've been using a e cig for over a month and never really crave for a real fag unless I have a drink then the cravings are much more so I use the e cig more when I drink. I personally think if they let you use the e cig in the concourse then it will make going the toilet at half time easier as everyone is having a fag in there

I don't have time to think about smoking because (1) I stopped 19 years ago and (2) I bite my nails nearly all the time at the AMEX in disbelief and wonder at what I am now watching. Hoorah!

Is there a law against these e-cigs.....no....then go right ahead. They will have to make sure a non e cig policy is described in the terms of entry.

i emailed the club about this and this is the email i received in reply....although he hasn't replied since his meeting with the safety officer

Dave

Sorry, but I have just found this in my spam folder (apparently our filter picks out the word law – which is helpful). I’ll speak to the Safety Officer on Monday and we will reconsider this. At the moment in line with most entertainment venues, we do not permit them. The reason is that they have been found to cause disputes with staff, sometimes deliberately engineered, and to act as cover for illegal smoking.

My own view is that the ban should stay but I’ll discuss this with my team on Monday.

Best Wishes

Sounds reasonable, even though as an ocassional smoker I can understand why people would argue otherwise. But from clubs point of view it will instantly require stewards more hassle.
