I'm struggling to find exact measurements but Parkers says:

"The new E-5008’s boot is longer and larger than the old 5008’s regardless of how many seats you’re using."

I stand corrected. Maybe it was a visual thing on my part as it certainly LOOKED smaller to the boot of the 5008 I drove to the showroom in!

I can say, it definitely didn't have the same drop from headrest to floor, but I wasn't aware it was wider and longer.

Enjoy, the 5008 it is a great car...

More bad news for the fossil fuel industry

What rot. While I support wider use of EVs, the widespread delusion that fossil fuel interests are negatively affected by sales of EVs may be one reason we're truly f|*&cked....

Two factors (at least):
1. the market share of ICE v EV sales is (almost entirely) irrelevant to volumes of fossil fuel consumption/sales. Only absolute sales volumes could be directly relevant (ie even if a few percent more EVs are sold and, meanwhile, as is likely the overall consumption of fuel goes up from those other new ICE car sales added each year, and next year, why should fossil fuel interests care one jot?).
2. And even if absolute ICE vehicles sales reduce significantly, consumption will still continue to rise from the new cars added every day (and there's still a lot currently each year, far outpacing the rate of retirement/write-off of older ICE vehicles. Cars are lasting longer than ever, may be 20-30 years... ).

The only way fossil fuel interests may be affected is if ICE sales are banned, and even then it may take decades before fuel consumption declines and even then quite slowly, considering this is a global industry where new consumers are looking to become addicted to (much likely cigarettes).

There are quite a few EVs with very good boot space - that was a MUST HAVE for me.

I looked at the

Swasticar Model Y
VW ID4
Skoda Enyaq
Ioniq 5

That was before the

5008, EV9, Astra Estate

edit to add:

It's really only hybrids where you compromise on boot space, because of the need for batteries, a petrol tank, ICE engine and electric motor on the same vehicle, which is usually on an ICE chassis, which adds a further level of compromise.
Same main criteria for me. Did you end up with any off your list? (assuming not the first unmentionable one!)

Thanks…I mean….Booooooooooooooooooo!
Was actually quite impressed in the couple I’ve been in but can’t do it now. Do you know what you’ll replace it with?

Charging capabilities apart, I feel your pain. There's no way I could live with that thing for three years.

Unfortunately I don't think any of those vehicles were available to me, save for the 5008, on the Motability scheme when we ordered our Dacia, with no compromise on boot!

Another thumbs down for the video.

Any youtube video, which begins by going on about how the mainstream media aren't reporting on the things that he's about to tell me about, make me want to immediately switch off before I get the urge to put on a tin foil hat and attack a 5G mast

I‘m still a bit too concerned over residual values and dying battery life to actually ‘buy’ a battery powered car. I think should i make the leap it will be on personal lease.

interested to learn what you folk have done. Probably only applies to personal users rather than company car users.

I think that there is probably enough data now for you to form a view on depreciation e.g. on Autotrader and maybe on owners' forums too?

I understand that there is indeed a massive tax benefit if it's a company car, so yes, the economics are different.

I had a Tesla as a courtesy car once when my iPace was in the garage. Wasn’t impressed to be honest. It went fast, although not noticeably quicker than the iPace, but just felt cheap inside.

Having said that, it could’ve been the best car ever and I wouldn’t drive one if you paid me now.

Me too.

I looked at a newish ID4 or Enyaq but realised that my budget just about stretched to a 5 year old Audi E-tron and having test driven one, I was sold. I did briefly consider one the of the early iPaces also as they seem to be brilliant value for money and have a lot of boot space but I didn’t really need the sporty ride, extra pace, performance and handling.

Ive had electric cars since 2015, all have been bought through my company but on a business version of a PCP so principle is the same. My thinking with this, as it is relatively new technology, is to have it for a short finance period and to renew when the warranty expires. There are also often good deals on electric car finance like 0% deals and large dealer deposit contributions. Never had any issues with dying battery life and the longest I have owned an electric vehicle without changing it has been 4 years.

In terms of residuals its been a bit of a mixed bag but with a PCP/ BCP you do get a guaranteed residual value and you can either choose to buy it, part exchange it for a new one, or hand back. With my first electric car (a nissan leaf) the purchase price was such a bargain with all of the government grants and dealer contributions that I hardly lost anything when I came to sell. It was the same with my my first model 3, because when I came to part exchange, second hand electric car values had gone through the roof and there was loads of equity in it.

However when the PCP agreement finished on our most recent model 3, the second hand car market in general was in a bad place and the part exchange price Tesla offered me was only just above the residual value, in this instance I thought it was such a bargain I just settled the final balloon payment and have kept hold of the car for another year.
