Just a quick question for the experts.................

Was that the best game El Abd has had in a Brighton shirt ?

Very unselfish tackle which earned him his 5th yellow of the campaign. Fantastic game today.

Gus is raving about him in his post match comments, and rightly so IMO. Shame he is missing for Saturday, however he says he will be straight back in after his suspension is served :albion1:

Bennett owes him one after that.

Gus said last season that El Abd was the best defender at the club. I thought he was mad but after watching him this season he might just be right. Tackling has become a dying art in recent seasons but tonight I saw it executed to perfection on numerous occasions. He has taken some stick over the years has our Adam but tonight he can feel exceptionally proud of himself after that superb display.

He was absolutely fantastic tonight. Has to be his best game for the club as it was a perfect centre back's performance. Outstanding. Gutted he'll now be out through suspension. Greer will have to step up.

Bit crap being suspended for five yellows so quickly into the season, I must say I hadn't realised he had that many. Today was a splendidly tactical foul however, and a necessary one.

He'll be gutted, because every time we've lost a player for whatever reason recently, someone else has stepped up to the plate and done a great job. It gives Greer a chance- if fit- or Dunk. Neither would hopefully let us down (let's face it, if you're going to play Dunk in only his second full game, Tranmere would appear to be the sort of opponents you'd want it to be against).

Poyet has said Adam will be straight back in regardless of what happens on Saturday. I still can't believe this is the same El-Abd we saw last season....

Poyet has said he doesnt have to worry, he'll be straight back in. He certainly deserves that.

Seems Greer's still crocked so id love to see Dunk get a go at the weekend, although Showumni or whichever lump they have up top might be a tough ask for such an inexperienced guy.

Adam was incredible tonight, brave, committed, sure footed, unselfish

I was very impressed, I must say.

I will hold my hand up. After a couple of seasons not rating him whatsoever, he was immense tonight and fully deserved MOM.

Well played Adam.

He was excellent tonight. Nice to see a positive thread about one of our table topping players on here for a change.

What's all the fuss? Good solid defending, and contributed brilliantly to another cleansheet. But on the ball, I would still rather have Greer in there. I think he can do all the brilliant defensive things that El-Abd does, but he can play a bit aswell. I would have him as Greer's backup, but it's up to Greer to justify himself now.

All credit to El-Abd for taking that yellow card for the team though, knowing the consequences.

I must admit that i have never been keen on el abd but he heas been first cvlass this season.

Even when he has previously played well he might make the odd mistake but today he was outstanding. In the air and his reading of the game has got alot better.

He seems to have finally eradicated the stupid mistakes *touch wood*

In previous seasons he'd come into the side, have four or five solid games, and then screw up monumentally and cost us a goal/game. I don't know what's changed, whether Poyet has worked on his concentration, but- kiss of death alert- so far this season he's been spot on. Certain games Elphick has been the man, but in others, tonight being one, El Abd has been superb.

I thought he looked very comfortable on the ball tonight, including some tight moments where it was given to him in a panic, while he was under pressure and he still calmly passed it.

Delighted to say I have said it all along despite his odd mistake. Gus & the backroom boys have done a great job polishing this rough diamond.
