I saw Adam whilst walking my dog the other day and he was walking his. Tempted to ask a few Questions about if he got Lambert sent off on purpose and about being captain. Wish I had now ... :annoyed:

NO. Should go to someone who will play must games in case he is needed to do it again, El Abd is not good enough to be in the side when everyone is fit dunk and Greer are much better at cb as look better on ball and pass the ball better El Abd after watching him at the away games of christmas looked a week link at right back was beaten all the time and never got forward something a lot of fans around me all said, I think lim bridcutt should get it been are best player of 2011 as voted by fans and players also was captain of the Chelsea res so at some point they must have regarded him as I good or future captain?

See this --> . Please use it more.

El Abd is an absolute ROCK. Easily worthy of being captain and in my opinion a far better defender than Greer.

AeA has taken the armband before, but in that period he was perhaps not as assertive, comfortable and confident to keep it.
Now however, I believe the has the chops and capability - and confidence is a big part of that.

He got swung at the other day by Lamberk because players like him get frustrated by a rabidly successful man-marker doggedly shackling their every move.
That is what Adam is incredibly good at!
I wouldn't mess with Liam Bridcutt, he's free-range and good at that. Why disrupt his travels to make him marshall events and interpret managerial desires to the others?

Another exempliary type of player is Mackail-Smith..... mayyy-be ??? He does see a lot of the game, and his workrate is a great staff for the other players to see and try to live up to!

It was also partly to do with the fact that El Abd was digging him in the back/ribs or wherever he could EVERY time he was near him. He basically pushed him to breaking point. Wonderful to see

When Calderon stood in last year, he was an automatic choice in our League One side. Now there are obvious question marks over his long term future in a side aiming to be at the top end of the Championship. Taricco is clearly not a long term option either. However, in any one off game, I'm sure Gus would be happy enough with either of these two.

The progressive option if Poyet is looking for a longer term deputy / successor to GG, would clearly be El Abd. I disagree with one of the posters above in that I think Gus will want to play El Abd somewhere in the side if he is fit - a near automatic choice now. He is just too good a defender to leave out - perhaps not as classy as either GG or Dunk, but a better defender.

Did El-Abd take the armband for the last ten minutes against Saints?

First choice El-Abd, with Bridcutt and Sparrow contenders.

Categorically becase El Abd is NOT a fullback, he's never been any good there.

However, he is without doubt one of the best centrebacks at the club, and would have started the season alongside Greer had he not been injured. Dunk stepped in and did well (apart from the constant bookings), and so rightly kept the shirt. I hope Gus now affords El Abd that same professional courtesy, as he did not put a foot wrong against Saints. His controlled aggression and added experience makes him the number 1 choice alongside GG as far as I'm concerned. He was a monster for last season, and he can do it again.

I think Bridcutt has too much on his plate a lot of the time as it is, don't burden him with any more.

I'd say the same about Lambert.

Now there's a man who clearly has a LOT on his plate. Every meal.

.

If Dunk goes anywhere whilst GG is suspended, AeA will be first choice and I think would make a good captain in GG absence.

Are you being serious as IMHO El Abd will be first choice of the 3 and the battle for the other position will be between Dunk and Greer. El Abd is better at tackling than either of those and far better in the air as both Greer and Dunk are poor in the air. Greer beats Adam on his ball disribution but there isnt a single aspect of play that Dunk beats El Abd on. Tackling - No, Heading- No, Positional play -No. Dunk is a great prospect who may progress to a higher level but at the moment is light years behind El Abd.
