That’s the 4th ‘cash in’ reference on this thread. Anyone else want a go?
I'll give it a shot *clears throat*:

Apparently the deal is done but there's an issue with accommodation for the lad. So one of the current squad is going to put him up in their loft conversion.

That's right, it's Cashin the attic.

So Cashin in the attic?

Now if you'd have said it's has come out that he has an unhealthy obsession with day time TV shows about unearthing hidden gems in people's homes then I'd say he was Cashin the Addict

Left of a back 3 is a plausible position for him if we signed him. Has he ever done that job for you?
Regulary, we're terrible with a back 3 but that's nothing to do with Cashin! He's comfortable there.
Fair enough, seems like he only got one game as LB (a loss against Charlton - but he scored!).

Then again Igor also can't play LB and pretty much never did until he signed him. Sometimes the setup of our defence makes the "paper positions" false. For instance someone listed RB or LB on paper could actually be playing as LCB or RCB in reality.

Cashin doesn't seem like much of a ball playing defender but if he can do similar things as Veltman does to the right, he could be a more defensive backup for Pervis or play to the left of a back three.
Good research :) He's just doesn't have the right shape or style to be a LB. He's comfortable on the ball and has a great long range pass, doesn't make him a 'ball player' per se but certainly can hold his own.

More broadly, it would take a super big number and/or a loan back as we have, literally, no fully fit central defenders right now.

I guess the other consideration is your parlous position in the league. Probably don't want to be selling without replacement when your that close to the drop zone

SSN (there's a link to the article on the Ayari thread) seem to think the move's dead in the water now.

Tony and Paul didn't moan as far as I know. They know how this business works. We're no angels either. It isn't that long ago we bought Buonanotte cheaply from the corrupt Rosario president just weeks before their members were going to vote him out. Sometimes you have to be as Veltman in business as in games.
I seem to remember Boca being particularly displeased with the way we went about signing Barco as well

Yeah but Riquelme really had no reason to moan about us, he was just butthurt. Lad didn't want to sign a contract with a bigger release clause so we used it.

Yeh. This looking unlikely. Boscagli looking less likely. The club could pull out one of their late in the day signings from nowhere, but just as likely there's no defensive incomings this window

No one else seem to think he is any good apart from us and Derby fans. Hope this means we’ve got him as I think we are one or two injuries away from a catastrophe at the back which, with our injury record this season is surely very likely.

We’re still sniffing.

I wonder if they’d take Ed Turns as part of the deal? His contract runs out in about 5 months I believe.

To go from being linked with Vitor Reis and Ousmane Diomande to the reality of a bid for Cashin is laughable. Defence is an issue and Dunk is on the decline, spend the money for a decent centre back!
We should have spent at least 20% of that money last summer on a CB. None of it makes sense. The club tell us we are spending the money because it’s a unique opportunity- combination of us having money and being very safe on FFP, others teams needing to sell etc etc. So why not focus that on a position we are actually desperately in need of. And if the argument was there’s not many CBs around, when will they be around?! There are very few left footed CBs. Ever. That won’t change. We dropped a bollock last summer. And if it is true that we missed out on Cashin because we argued over a few quid then that’s just laughable given we still want him but will now have to pay millions for him.

Derby fans tell me they want to agree a deal with Boro to sign Matt Clarke ( had successful loans at Derby ) and once that agreed then Cashin deal to us is on
