So I've decided to make my first EGGNOG this Christmas.

My plan is to separate about half a dozen yolks into a punch bowl, beat them with some caster sugar, then whip some milk in, some white RUM, some double-cream, give it a good old WHISK to thicken that sucker up a bit, then add some ground nutmeg, bung it in the fridge for 3-4 hours, then get a ladle out and get pissed.

Any tips ? Am I doing anything wrong ?

Frankly.... thinking of this in the first place :lolol:
I'm with the others, keep the Rum. Nothing else.

I just like the idea of having a mildly sickly runny alcoholic beverage on the side, that people can mince across to and take a scoop from on their way past. Gotta try these things.

Personally, I'd make a sugar syrup first and allow it to cool.

Whisk the egg yolks with Condensed milk and the Rum and a little vanilla. Them add the sugar syrup back, mix and chill the lot.

Alternatively, watch Noggin the Nog on telly while drinking the Rum.

Does not sound very COVID safe.

I'm making it on Christmas Eve, and only 2 people will be drinking it.

The doris is working all day Christmas day, so it'll just be me, a lay-in, the lad, a couple of fresh prawn cocktails, 2 rump steaks (medium) a tiramisu, a cupboard full of grog, a Rocky anthology, Le Mans 66, Fawlty Towers and copious EGG NOG.

Could just be the best Christmas ever.

We've got an expert here. I'm liking your vanilla slant.

You do use the verb 'mince' rather a lot, Easy.

I like it x

Its somehow wormed its way inside my vernacular. I like it too xx

I can't help with the egg nog making but there is an alternative. I have either snowball bottles already made and add vodka, or have a bottle of Advocaat and add lemonade and vodka. I usually start this around 10:30 after a full fry up. Then down the pub for a couple and back home for dinner and sleep.
