Dreyer played in Premier League 2, which is treated differently to the EFL Trophy. Presumably because the EFL Trophy has senior teams playing in it. So PL2 is treated as a youth competition, but EFL Trophy a senior competition.

I didn’t realise it was considered a senior competition for the academy sides too. Explains why Cam was on the bench and got on in the FA Cup as he’d already played in the EFL trophy for us this season so a second loan move wouldn’t have been possible anyway.

Probably so they can get a better idea of attendance before the day to prepare whatever catering and other such arrangements they need
