An earlier poster asked why our CEO is so enthusiastic about these changes. Could it be that because of the great number of season ticket holders, he doesn't care about the fans' inconvenience. The seats have been paid for, so it doesn't matter if they are occupied or not. The revenue from SKY doubtless more than offsets the revenue from catering sales. Froma purely monetary view, it makes sense

Its really not a question of being enthusiastic about it, or "not caring" about the inconvenience to fans. Barber / BHAFC have NO CHOICE - Sky pay the money, they call the shots. Its as simple as that.

As much as we loath it being on tv helps improve Bhafc as a global brand which equals more money making chances for the club so it can then rely on our chairman's cash a bit less

Of course. But we will NEVER be a "global brand" - lets not start referring to ourselves as such.

Wow. I have finally benefited from a change. I am going snowboarding on the 21st but can now squeeze in the Sheff Wed game albeit via Gatwick journey.

Get to see a game and show off about my holiday, alles gut.

I'm not on that bus, I'm afraid. I still LOVE the FA Cup, and want the Albion to WIN it (as well as going up).

At lot will depend on the 3rd Round draw. The side Hughton puts out will be determined by who we are playing. Either of us get a real minnow and you've lost your Sat 3pm ko, anyway.

Indeed, if its like last year and Hull A I can see Rohan Ince and the EFL trophy team getting a run out.

No home Saturday games then during December and January, unless The FA Cup throws something up.

That's almost certainly right, with Burton (H) on Sat 11th Feb next up after Fulham (H) on 26th Nov. Newcastle (H) on Sat 28th Jan is more than likely to be shifted c/o the probability of either or both teams progressing to FA Cup R4.

Great for Sussex Seagulls but not so great for Midlands or Northern Seagulls!???

Will be interesting to see if Albion and Newcastle seek to "concentrate on the league", in which case if they both exit at FAC R3 then the Championship fixture could yet take place as scheduled. Personally, I hope we target a good FAC run as it'll give a chance for Maenpaa and co to get some match fitness which may well come in handy if the squad sustains injuries as the season progresses.

I'll answer my own question, YES.
Meanwhile I guarantee Newcastle WILL NOT BE PLAYED SATURDAY 3pm. Look at the live games schedule, gaping big hole between the 21st and 31st January. If the game goes ahead it will be moved.

That's because Sky don't cover the FA cup and will be waiting to see who gets knocked out in the 3rd round.

I seem to remember PB saying he loved Friday games as the fans drank loads more beer and he would be a fan of all home games on a Friday night from a sales point of view.

Very poor judgement by PB if he actually said that. Who exactly is drinking all this beer? Certainly not the Southern-captive commuters who it's touch-and-go will even make it there for kick-off time. Non-local fans will probably give the game a miss, as will most away fans unless they're making a weekend of it. Nobody's going to be thinking of anything other than getting back into town ASAP after the game.

Slightly off topic but regarding Newcastle and Brighton progressing in the cup.

On one of the toon forums last week the question was posed whether they would rather be promoted or win the FA cup. Was interesting to see that virtually all posters chose the cup.

They will of course have a weakened team in the 3rd round but don't underestimate their love for the FA cup

Doesn't sound a very PB thing to say. Plus I reckon people would drink more on a Saturday – especially given the number of times I've rocked up for an evening game only to find the place almost deserted with an hour or so to go...

I too would rather win the FA Cup than get promoted this season
