I loved the Equalizer - my hazy recollections of it makes me think it had a great theme tune?

He was also the subject of my favourite Viz 'crap joke'

Dear Viz,

A while ago my husband farted in bed, the noise of which sounded unmistakably like 'Pol Pot' the former leader of the Khmer Rouge. Imagine our shock a couple of days later when we learned that he had died. My husband has just farted once again and lets just say its not looking good for Edward Woodward.

Also had the great pleasure of interviewing him in 1997 on the 25th anniversary of the filming of the Wicker Man in Galloway - while I was editor of the local newspaper - we dug up loads of great archive pix of the building of the actual wicker man from our newspaper negatives library and sent him a couple of them.
He was remembered fondly in Newton Stewart, Wigtown and Kirkcudbright for mixing with locals during the filming! Unlike Miss Eckland!
I mentioned my mum to him during the interview - but although he remembered Irene Avenue fondly, he did not remember mum - she was most peeved when I told her!
Anyway, he was gracious and funny and gave us a memorable 20 minutes interview.

Neither here nor there
As you go down the A26 towards Newhaven there's some houses set back to the left behind some scrubby land, and beyond those you can see the church. It's all part of the vast South Heighton-Tarring Neville conurbation.

Oh you mean St Mary's church at Tarring Neville, the one that's not actually in South Heighton.

Frankly the place is so vast and sprawling that one gets rather confused. But as the saying goes: when a man is tired of Tarring Neville, he is tired of life.

I'm sure Southampton will organise a minute's silence, after they held one before yesterday's game for everyone who's ever died, anywhere, ever.

I saw him interviewed years ago on TV and he said he was known as "fart in a bath" by one of his famous friends (can't remember who now though).
