eBay - goods not arrived

Help please, chaps...

I won three auctions (photographic slides) just over a month ago from a seller with 1000+ feedback based in Selsdon, Surrey.

I paid the day of the auction and the items have still not arrived. I initially contacted him two weeks after the auction and he said he had been on a business trip to the USA and had posted them from there. He advised me to wait a little longer. Which I've done.

A month has now gone and he's offered me my money back LESS the postage costs (£5). He even questionned my integrity by saying he has no reason to believe I've not received them :angry:

Now, I realise I'm quibbling over a mere fiver here, but the point is I wouldn't have bloody bid for the slides if I'd known they'd be sent from the States! I've never had much luck with eBay and airmail. He's refusing to pay postage, and has suggested we let eBay and Paypal deal with it. Which will cost me £15.

Should I stand firm and insist he pays the postage, or just forget it and take the auction refund? Bearing in mind, a bit of that will be eaten by Paypal's bloody charges.

Grrr...

I think it's up to the seller to ensure goods arrive... although you can be on dodgy ground if you were offered postal insurance and didn't take it.

Why will it cost £15 for eBay/PayPal to sort?

PS If he's a regular user he probably won't want an eBay strike or negative feedback.

Go to Paypal - they'll give you your money right back unless the seller can produce proof of delivery. Which, it seems, he can't.

I bought a pair of flip-flops from a twat of an ebayer - my fault his wife had left etc etc.

Took three phone calls and a month to arrive and it was from the Isle of Man - was seriously considering sending Bozza round to twat him :lolol:

1000+ feedback would tell me a reasonable seller and I reckon he sent them and got lost. Why argue over £5 ?

You could get your money back and the goods if you are lucky.

they will only give you the money back if you paid with maoney in your account, and not by credit, otherwise they say you have to get the money back through your credit card, been there, total waste of time

Just checked and postal insurance was not offered.

re: the £15 fee, eBay's purchase protection programme will cover you for up to £120, with a £15 charge to cover 'processing costs'.

Paypal looks like a good bet, though, Bozza. Thanks.

He's got more like 3000 transactions, many repeat buyers. He's definitely a genuine seller, just with poor business sense. I'd probably have given him another chance if he'd just accepted the problem and tried to give customer satisfaction.

if you dish out the negative feedback on this seller he will do the same too you even if you are 100% in the right, e bay will not remove it. as i found out at my cost

take your fiver back and move on its a lot less trouble

paypall dont charge a penny to claim your money back

I must admit I was very tempted to give that idiot I bought the flip-flops off bad feedback but checked and he had done it back to others.

That's my fear, too, cos it happens so often.

I'd love it if they did something that allowed you to get feedback based on your speed of payment.

Touch wood I have had no major issues with ebay although I won a portable tv for £20 once and after 10 weeks gave the 3 days to respond, he claimed the tv was damaged and sent back to him and suggested he'd emailed me to tell me this although he couldnt tell me my email addresses! I dissed him :angry:

Ebay look after the sellers more than the buyers because it's the sellers who make them their money.
Try Paypal but I can guarantee you're wasting your time.
I've had 3 dodgy transactions and tried to claim the money back through paypal and every time they come up with some half baked excuse why I couldn't claim the refund.
I don't use ebay anymore due to the number of twats that sell things on there now.

All you do is wait until the 89th day after the auction, neg them that evening and then they can't neg you in retaliation.

Yes. I'm a vindictive ebay buyer/seller.

Excellent information, was not aware of that, thank you :clap: :clap: i to have been a victim of negative feedback, very unfairly, will remember that advice:clap:

You just have to hope the buyer/seller doesn't come onto ebay in the time between you negging them and the 90th day.
