The best way is to setup a new bank account fur this purpose only. It can be with your current bank or another if you're sick of them.

I use a seperate account for any direct debits and PayPal transactions and the account is only a BASIC bank account with no facilities for going overdrawn. Transfer the money you expect to use into there so if anything goes wrong there's only the exact amount you've expected to pay to go missing, nothing more.

I refuse to give anybody access to my main account simply because I've seen from both sides the hassle of a Direct Debit cock up.

You can pay money into my bank account but nobody can take it out but me

Ok, asked for proof.
More than happy to refund him if as he says it is totally unrepairable, but 4 months later and he throws this at me? His feedback is private so I can't see if he has tried it on before which gives me a twinge of doubt. I am led to believe that not everyone is as honest as the day is long, and he is a Johnny foreigner after all.

Four months since you sold the item and the paypal transaction completed?

Then, no, he won't get his money back from them and they won't just take any money from you.

He only has 45 days from the transaction date to file a dispute and get his money back. He is too late now. His loss!

Also, the listing only stays on ebay for 90 days so if you can't find your item via number or your sold items etc he wouldn't be able to leave you any negative feedback either.

UPDATE: (cos you're all DYING to know!)
He came back with proof in the form of a phone number for a company in Italy who said they couldn't fix it! From what I can gather the company hasn't even looked at the item whereas Hagon UK have assured me it is fullyservicable (if you aren't aware Hagon are decent shock absorbers, no crap). I am never selling abroad again!
BTW, anyone want some decent, hardly used crash bars for an XTZ 750? Ricky Cross style?:D

A phone humber isn't proof - we want a letter on company letterheaded paper!! I demanded that when someone questioned the authenticity of one of my Louis Vuitton handbags....She went to the bond street store (exactly where I bought it) and sure enough they told her it was real. Stupid cow!!

At least Hagon are still in business, Spax have just gone to the wall and you guessed it a pair Zef was rebuilding are leaking - grrrrrrr!!
