So more than 2 months later, the seafront is still closed and there has been no progress in demolishing the remains. Perhaps the local authority are waiting for it to fall over of natural causes. ****ing useless.

Latest I heard was that the seafront road could be closed for 18 months.

The can’t keep up with the state of the roads, or rubbish collections, I doubt there’s any money in the pot for the demolition of the hotel remains. What we need is a Tory government in power, then at least the local authorities would get decent grants...oh...

Its Grade 2 listed.
There is a planning application to reduce it down to leave the ground floor structure. This will give the exact footprint and design to rebuild
and match the original facade.

That planning application isn't going to get rejected. So whys it not been approved and work started, I wonder?

More likely the ruins will sit there as is for another year, and it will never get rebuilt. Meanwhile other businesses nearby go bankrupt.

You are correct, it wont get rejected.
But planning applications have to abide by the rules that they are governed by. The fact that it is grade 2 listed, means it has to satisfy English Heritage, The
Local Planning Authority, and probably at least another couple of historic authorities.
This is only to demolish to 1st floor level.
There will likely have to be seperate applications for the new replacement building to be built.
