Never had a bad meal at the Taurus Steak House in Terminus Road. Great Thai restaurant at the Harbour, cant remember the name, also others there.
Best proper restaurant is the Hungry Monk at Jevington, about six miles out of Eastbourne, Banoffi Pie was invented there.

Roz and I were out in Eastbourne on a Friday night a couple of years ago. She was snapping at a Two Choices gig and we got hungry. Off in search of somewhere - anywhere - to eat, the ONLY place we found open in the town centre was ... McDonalds.

It may be better now that the summer is here.

There's bugger all in the bus lane. You should have wandered further up Terminus Road away from the shops, or round to Seaside Road.

Either that or the other way, up Grove Road.

One at the Harbour is Thai Marina which is alright, but i'm afraid Aids the whole rest of the place is pretty shite really (and this is coming from someone who lives 50 yards from the restaurants there).

If you're talking out and out best restaurants in the area including out of town I would say that Sundial in Herstmonceux is as good as it gets. Absolutely incredible food and service, but roughly £30-40 per head plus drinks

Thai Marina's well good, in my opinion, but expensive. Over the harbour I also think Ganges is pretty impressive. Apart from that the harbour's pretty shit.

The Waterside Hotel just past the pier on the seafront. An oasis amongst the bobbins B&Bs. IMHO Eastbourne has a real dearth of good restaurants
