Opportunity for a Brighton Fan
I am looking for fan/fans of all the clubs in League 1, who attend all home league games for their respective clubs, who would be interested in doing a job at matches and getting paid. In a nutshell: the company I operate on behalf of, are a sports statistics service, who cover Football leagues all across Europe, and have people who we call (scouts) who go to game, and capture statistics and match happenings in real-time and send this information to the central office; this information is then sold on to our customers, various betting agencies who provide it to their customers to make betting decisions during the game. All the German, Austrian, French, Spanish and Swiss leagues are covered and we have recently started in England. We started doing the Championship, and it has been a big success, so we have decided to start sooner than we had initially anticipated in League 1! Just in case any of you were wondering, as it has been brought up before by a few people, what we do is totally legal and the company has a license to do what it does; if anyone wants further clarification on this, you will be able to ask for something more formal, from the scout manager, who will be dealing with you, if you decide to pursue this opportunity.

To do this, all you need is a pda, which our company provides, which you are given training in how to use; as long as you are basically comfortable with technology as I'm sure you are, being involved in your online enterprises, it isn't too much of a problem to get used too. You are paid around £32-34 for a successful match, and ticket expenses of up-to £20, you are paid monthly for all matches covered either via paypal or bank transfer. Doing this job, does take a little concentration, so probably not suitable for the sort of fan who wants to be jumping up and down constantly during the game... I appreciate this opportunity may be of no interest to some of you directly, whether it be other duties, such as fanzine, no need for the money, etc, but if you think you know a suitable individual, who would like to do this, please do not hesitate to either pass on their information, or tell them to contact me at this e-mail. We are looking to commence ASAP, so if your interested let me know at: ukscouter@hotmail.co.uk

Might be of interest to some of you? ???

Why would anyone running any sort of business use a hotmail account?
Exactly what I thought.

And Paypal? Not much of a proper business if it doesn't even have a website.

Bet they want you to buy the pda???

Just what I thought, a scam to get you to part with cash for a PDA. Surely all the match stats you could want are already available on the BBC site and several others? Why pay someone to be at a game when you can get the info anyway?

Sounds like a scam to me. Firstly why would betting shops take information from a company who employs fans as scouts. Also, no proper business uses hotmail accounts, and has no website. If they were they would be employing experienced and imparital people, and would not be advertising on a message board!

far too good to be true me thinks. The lack of proper e-mail address and payment by Paypal rings bells straight away.
Don't quite get what the scam is tho, unless they just want your paypal/bank details?

Here is a response from a Notts County message board. They are also suspicious as well...

re: opportunity for a County fan

has anyone else replied to this?
i sent them an e email, here is the response.

Hi Richard,

thanks for your enquiry. I hope you don't mind, but I've done a cut 'n' paste job from other replies, because i've been doing loads of these the last couple of days. Hope the below answers most of your questions, and if after reviewing you think you want to go ahead, all I need is your address (to send the pda) and mobile number for our database, and presuming no one else has found someone for County yet, not as far as I know you could be starting very soon! I have attached some files, which are refered to in the message below. May thanks...

so they would have your name, address bank details to pay the monety into and your mobile number and they don't have a proper e-mail. Can't see a problem with this at all...
