Early Brighton Managers - wikipedia

I am currently trying to update and improve the pages on Brighton's managers, starting at the very beginning. I'm just got as far as I can with John Jackson, adding an infobox and image and generally tidying it. Here

If anyone has any info or pictures of old managers they can send me, scans from books are fine, I can remove the pics from them (the one of Jackson I took from a pdf someone kindly sent me) easily. Pics first published before 1927 are in the public domain in the States (where wikipedia is hosted), so the early ones I can use freely there.

Next up is Scott-Walford (05-08)

Great wiki page. Sorry I can't help you with better pictures, have you spoken with The History Man (Tim Carder) I imagine their is a man who may know where you might find an Albion related picture.

I've been collecting Albion memorabila since the early seventies and I'm sure that I will have photo's etc in some old books that I have collected over the years. I will see what I can find for you over the Weekend. Great Wiki page.

Imagine Gus having a fued with Greer or Bridcutt and it ending up with assaults, death threats and court bannings, bonkers story from the birth of our club.

Looks like he was in the Movember movement from the begning.

Thanls everyone else for the comments as well.

I'm guessing you have a copy of 'Albion. An illustrated History by John Vinicombe, published in 1978, which has several good early pics of managers & team.

I think the pdf I have came from that book. The bit I have only covers the Jackson era though because that's what I was writing at the time (because I'd noticed there was no article - I've only now thought about expanding the rest as well).

I'm not at home at present but think I have a couple of John vinnicombe's books, Up Up & Away and Albion

I bought a team picture of the BHA team from 1907-8 season in the club shop after the Forest game. Scott walford is the manager there. I'll try and scan it and get it to you.

in the meantime.............. scott walford is the middle pic

Tim Carder & Roger Harris fantastic book 'Albion A-Z - A Who's Who of Brighton & Hove Albion FC' (pages 305-321) has everything you'll ever need for that wikipedia entry. Your only problem would be what to leave OUT. For example, first three entries, each of about 500 fascinating words minimum, complete with photos of dapper gentlemen in suits and flamboyant twirly moustaches are:

John Jackson (June 1901 - March 1905)
Frank Scott-Walford (March 1905 - April 1908)
Jack Robson (April 1908 - December 1914)

Probably the finest Albion reference work ever written. IMHO, like.

OK then, give us a few minutes. Do you want the write ups scanned also or just the photos? I'm not saying they'll be great quality mind. Tim Carder probably has the original photos. Probably also has copytright. Sorry Tim, my bad

There you go. Apologies for scanning quality but you get the general drift. That Tim Carder book is your friend. Everything you need is in there. Literally.
