Makes me laugh when people go on about wages. That's what these players demand, if we aren't going to pay the going rate then we won't get players of that standard. If we don't get players of that standard, then we are going nowhere fast, except down maybe.....One Ambition??? Not if you pay peanuts, i'm afraid.

on top of that why do we need Becchio... we dont we have COG

the strikers we get in will be in a different mould in my opinion

Exactly, I'm not convinced Hyypia wants/needs a big man, if he does then he can use COG. I suspect he wants someone more mobile.

I agree entirely. Clearly a man of great talent, but a career spent at Watford, Burnley & Bolton suggests to me a certain lack of application. An occasional matchwinner, but a regular source of frustration for fans.

Hmm was O'Grady's better (Leicester City, Notts County, Rushden & Diamonds,Rotherham United, Oldham Athletic, Bury,Bradford City,Stockport County Rochdale Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley )?

But if he wasn't what you say, he would be worth £20m and playing in a top prem side. He has got the abilty, but doesn't always put it in, bit like most players of that type in this division, otherwise they wouldn't be in this division. Every team needs a touch of quality, that maybe the rest have to carry from time to time, because they are match winners on their day. We have the players to support such a player, in Ince, Toko and Crofts. Unfortunately for us Kemy seems to be the only ball playing midfielder we have and he is a big fat and lazy.

I'd really like us to sign Paddy Madden from Scunthorpe. Saw him play for Yeovil last season before his fall out with them and he looked class.

What is the going rate for a Championship Player? I'd reckon the average is about £5K per week (average) and yet we are banding around players on £30K.

I do understand what you are saying however the club are right to have a wage structure and surely within that a maximum wage.

On the plus point Burkes lists have included the elusive combination of realistic and exciting targets. Players like Ward, Grabban, Clayton and Conway so the talent identification appears to be working.

I think a big part of the "problem" is that we are trying to sign decent players which other clubs desperately want, too. We are setting our sights high, which inevitably means we will fail more times than we succeed. No point in blaming Burke for aiming him. Much better than "successfully" bringing in loads of average players.
