Do people bid with a few days of an auction to go?.I dont understand why people bid an item right up and then probably lose it in the last seconds.Surely there will come a time when everyone leaves it untill the last seconds for a mass snipe out.

maybe people make a starting bid to stop the seller changing the price after the listing - ie if there is a low starting bid, and the item is getting a LOT of views perhaps the seller might be tempted to raise the price, but if a bid has been made then they can't.

Also, not sure, but maybe by making a bid they are stopping the seller de-listing the item. does it work that way or....?

Perhaps the people who bid early are going to be out when the auction ends, or in work, or on holiday, etc.

I won a pair of trainers on eBay a few weeks ago. I was due to be away on the day the auction ended, so there was no point in hanging around. I put in my maximum bid immediately.

There was only one other bidder, and I ended up getting the trainers for just £6-50. I had been prepared to pay £20-00, so that was a decent result.

You could do with a few more decent results.

Most things I bid on I set myself an upper limit to. It makes no difference when I bid if the price goes over what I am prepared to pay I don't bid again.

Surley though ,if you want something and bid early it just pushes the price up.Why not just watch it and bid in the last minute(as long as you are going to be there).

Even if you a bid a maximun of, say, £20 and the bidding only goes up to £10 you only pay £10 so there is no advantage to bidding early.

What I don't understand is people who buy stuff for a higher price than they could get it brand new in Amazon !

As a seller it's quite funny when the item eventually goes for more than the initial Buy It Now price!
