I am really very pleasantly surprised. I half expected lots of posters piling into me telling me I had girly taste or words to that effect. I have always maintained that yes the band at the start in the early 80’s were often thought of as a ‘ boy band ‘ because of their looks and clothes but actually over the last 40 years they have shown and proved what a proper decent band they are with so many good songs .

They are also one of the best bands I have ever seen live and I have seen the Rolling Stones, oasis , Coldplay , Queen , u2 etc . I’m not saying they are better than these bands but there isn’t as much gap as many might think .

I saw Duran Duran at Brighton Dome when their first album came out in 1981, they definitely were very good live.

That's because we are being nice to you as internet abuse really is a little sad. All I will say is that Duran Duran albums really belong in the WD40 thread.

Bloody loved (and still do) Duran Duran!
7 and The Ragged Tiger deffo my fave album.
Saw them twice live at Brighton Centre back in the 80’s on their ‘7 and The Ragged Tiger’ tour then later after their split on the ‘Notorious’ tour.
Actually got John Taylor’s autobiography on my wish list for my birthday this year.

I’ve read love death and Duran Duran. JT’s book is a good read, really down to earth and not at all what I was expecting .

This thread has probably made them a few quid on the streaming sites. Listened for an hour today and enjoyed, thanks to the OP.

I watched my 'Greatest' DVD yesterday whilst exercising. I hadn't watched that in a few years, so a few observations:

The air saxophone routine in the video for 'Rio' on the deck of the yacht is every bit as cool as Simon Le Bon wearing a lime green suit, clicking his fingers, singing 'do, do, do, do, do, do' at the end of it.
The video for 'The Chauffeur' is soft porn.
I happen to think they were past their best when they recorded 'Ordinary World' but it happens to be their best song in my opinion - but they really looked so cool though in the video.
A lot of pretty girls in all their videos, but 'Notorious' is the winner on that front.
'A View to a Kill' was one of the worst Bond films, but it's got one of the best, if not the best, theme song.
35 years on and I still cannot fathom how a blind Accordion player pressing a magic button kills Nick Rhodes on the Eiffel Tower in the video for 'View to a Kill'. Maybe having the technical specifications made available for whatever it was in his right ear might help, but the question from the model he was photographing - 'Nick, what's wrong?' is still unanswered. We don't actually know if he even died.

Very Duran sounding .

This from ITV : -

Duran Duran have often embraced new technology when making their music.

They were one of the first bands to truly capitalise on the new frontier of MTV in the 1980s, producing high-end production videos to their singles which propelled them to global stardom.

And in 1997, they were the first band to sell their single digitally, releasing 'Electric Barbarella' from Abbey Road Studios using Liquid Audio.

Now, in another technological first, Duran Duran have used Artificial Intelligence to create a music video to accompany their latest single 'INVISIBLE'.

The genius that is Duran Duran .
