3 things please me,

1: we had a pacey striker running off the defenders shoulder and staying onside.

2: that striker then scored!

3: there was a second striker high enough up the pitch there just in case he missed!

Not knocking Muzza as he is a Legend in my opinion, but no way would he have been able to make either of those runs nowadays.

Dickov & Flatts.

Longer as Flatts played wide. But I agree with the point you're making. For as long as I can remember the orthodox thinking has been that having a target man / back post no9 is the only strategy to get goals. It's hugely refreshing to see something different.

It's ridiculously good. Dunk's about 10 yards behind the centre-circle.

Shows that there's still a place for playing direct football to unlock a defence - along the ground into a channel for the striker to run onto and easily control.

A sublime piece of skill from our CB that would be worthy of any big name creative midfielder.

We've already seen in one game that this system allows Lewis to show that he is much more that a "heart on his sleeve" and "body on the line" sort of defender.

He has every chance to force his way back into the England reckoning.

If VVD had made that pass there would be a media wankfest going on

Totally agree. They'd be swimming in their own man-goo in the MoTD studios if it was a Liverpool or Man City player...... However, it's Brighton so it was probably either a lucky pass, or an acceptable clearance.
