[Albion] Dunk to Leicester City?

In all seriousness, I think very highly of the Leicester squad - but their defence is badly exposed. Wes Morgan was rubbish last season, absolutely rubbish. He shouldn't even still be at the club, let alone being spoken about as a regular player. They should be looking to mug him off for someone better, they do have Soyuncu and Benkovic to come in, Rodgers had Benkovic on loan at Celtic so he must have thought highly of him and maybe still does. But Dunk has two years of experience in this league, the difference he would make to their defence would be huge. £40million is crazy money, whatever the market is doing, spending that on a centre back is crazy. Good as we know he is, that's a huge fee. Maguire might not get his move and he might be disappointed to not play for Man United but I think Leicester have as good a team as they do. Crazy to say it, and 10 years ago it would be have been a mental thing to say.

Sky reporting Leicester do not see Dunk as VFM and will not buy a replacement, even if Maguire goes.
Ironic that Dunk is apparently not worth north of £40 mill when they want north of £80 mill for Maquire. Crazy market but you cant have it only apply to your own players.

Max Rushden is starting his TalkSport show now with:-

'English centre backs - are they worth the money?'

He wants to know if Dunk is worth £45m.

Maguire at 85 means Dunk is worth 45. Also, Mings at 20...
The market for English players is ****ed.

Alderweireld is available for 25.....

Leicester are holding out for a new world record fee for a defender before they will let him go.

Leicester have looked at Burnley's James Tarkowski and Brighton's Lewis Dunk as possible replacements for Maguire, but we've been told Brendan Rodgers doesn't believe that either player represents good value for money - they would each likely cost more than £40m in the current market.

Perhaps these 2 things are related in some way...

The irony is that Alderweireld is the best centre back available, and he's the cheapest! Obviously, Villa would not be able to get him and neither would we or Leicester. But United should be absolutely battering down the door to get him for £25m. I doubt they've got home grown player concerns, they've got plenty who must qualify, so why spend two or three times the value of Maguire?!

If that is an end to it, it does mean we've seemingly valued Dunk at north of £40million. Which means he'll probably never leave.
Which is great!

So are you saying ‘Lenny Rider’ is Ian Hart?
IF THAT IS TRUE then it underlines even more that this person has just made this topic up, generated interest, then ‘reported’ on it, I assume for profit. Fake news. I stand by my previous statement that where this is proven then threads like this should be removed and the poster’s access to this forum reviewed.

P.S. I read the linked ‘article’ (which won’t happen again) and it reads like it was written by a 15 year old.

Christ, if we had to remove dodgy transfer rumour threads there’d be nothing on NSC except music threads and people arguing about commas in the laws of cricket from May till August.

Besides, there is a teency bit more to this than just self generated click bait.

Apart from that, carry on.

Of course - what else would we talk about !! - but in the end - this really might turn out to be a massive fuss over nothing. No bid or likely bid , no real interest for a player who was happy to stay at a club who had no intention of selling. That sounds like where we are...

Do you have that from a reliable source?

I'm not going to speculate on the OP's reasons for starting the thread but I'd hope the article came after the thread start and not the other way round. But those stories in The Sun - "fee agreed" and mischief making in Leicester's local rag? Well, we do have a habit of wheeling out a spanky new contract every time Dunky seems a bit unsettled. I wonder if his agent gets a cut?

I hope you're right in the end though - I'm very much hoping Lewis is leading out the Stripes come August 10th and is around to ram that chant back down Palace's throats. Again.

Kieran Trippier going to Atlético for £20m, apparently - didn’t have a great season last year, but that’s a bargain for defenders in this current Mings/Maguire madness.
