And then a disastrous second half of the season and fell out of the England setup

You think Dunk had a "disastrous" second half of the season. God we're hard on ourselves round here.
And perhaps the injuries and fitness of other centre halves might be a factor in his closeness to the England squad.

I didn't say Dunk did, Brighton did. But something happened that meant Southgate did not call him up again.

So if you're Lewis Dunk where do you think your best chance of getting back involved will be? Potentially another tricky season at Brighton? Or a club like Leicester

But not good enough to stay in contention with Southgate

Dunk is presumably in amongst a bunch of centre halfs for England contention - the others being Tarkowski, Keane, Stones, Maguire who are more experienced . He was called up in the autumn when a couple of those were available and made his debut. He lost his place when they were available again. If that means "not in contention" or no longer "good enough" then thats a harsh way to describe the best player of the club you support but, fair enough.

Injuries or a loss of form for Tarkowski, Keane, Stones or Maguire.
Burnley's "disastrous" season (4 more points than Albion) didn't seem to affect Tarkowski's chances.

Stop being obtuse.

My point is - If Dunk wants to get back into the England set up with the competition that there is at the moment, is the best way to do that at a club like Brighton, or someone like Leicester? I.e the better the club you are playing for, the better your chances are. I don't know what the answer is, but it must be something that Dunk and/or his agent is thinking.

I said nothing negative about Dunk, his performances or capabilities so stop trying to be so offended.

Ok. Fair enough. I don't agree that a move to Leicester helps with his England chances.

If Southgate remains in charge he has shown he picks players from any club, I dont think it really matters.

I agree, to a degree. But I still think week in / week out the team you are playing for changes the type of player you are. So Dunk could potentially look even better, in a better team

Why would Dunk look better in a better team? He's a defender, and the main defender at that. Therefore he'll look better in a worse team. Play him in Man City and he won't have a lot to do and therefore less chance to shine.

Play him in a pub team and he'll be man of the match every time

I'm not saying he'd be picked for England if he was playing in a pub team, even I'm not that stupid, but I still think it makes little difference to his England chances as long as he is playing somewhere in the PL.

Are you Dunk's agent? We'll be above Leicester this season anyway so there's no issue is there?

In the end, there is no evidence whatever that Dunk would be interested in leaving for Leicester or anywhere else, that Leicester would be interested in signing him, or that Albion would consider selling him. All that has happened is that someone has put two and two together (Maguire might leave Leicester) and made five (therefore Leicester would definitely want Dunk as a replacement rather than anyone else, including an academy graduate or a cheaper option). As far as I can see, every other 'report' is based on the same initial supposition.

These aren't the players you're looking for.

probably not, but Dunks real agent will probably be using this rumour (which he may have started?) to leverage another £5k a week out of Paul Barber. #10%

Seems to be *Pricing War* breaking out now between us and Burnley about who can give Leicester a higher asking price for Tarkowski or Dunk.

Both now at a tag of £40 million. I reckon we can go higher to make Tarkowski the cheaper option.

Alternatively, there has been absolutely no dialogue between us and Leicester.

Some very wishful thinking there. What else could make you think we will finish above a club with a proven manager, who already have better players than us and are strengthening by buying some more individuals who may well cost more than our entire budget.

Yet another Dunk article on the official site today - this time hinting at the captaincy.

I seriously doubt he would be this frequently featured unless he'd chatted with the club and was happy to stay.
