That's my view also Dunk is a good still young prospect but still dives in when maybe he dose not need to if 5 million is the figure then very hard to turn down which could fund a couple extra players

We are still talking about our top scorer last season who happens to be a defender are we not, bearing in mind our goals against were quite impressive considering our lowly position also.
Just trying to think of another CB who was in that position last season ...

Its all if if if. Whenever we sell our best players we replace them with less quality, is fulham really a bigger club at this moment in time?? If dunk wants to leave then i imagine it would be because he knows the club is full of shit

Fulham, the Ex-Premier League side who receive parachute payments equal to or greater than our income from match day ticket sales, merchandise, etc - giving them more financial clout and therefore more likely to gain promotion back to the Premier League vs a team that until recently played mainly in the lower 2 divisions of the English professional game but have a nice ground.

Ask any non biased person in the World and the vast majority will say Fulham are bigger than us. I know it's not what some of our fans want to hear or believe but, given time, we can move up and become more high profile but it won't necessarily be because we spend millions upon millions (which doesn't necessarily work and can cripple a club, like Pompey or Bolton) but hopefully we are sensible and supplement our squad with products from our academy we could be successful (like Southampton or Palace)

Not that long ago we would all have been very happy with regular Championship football and now that's not good enough and Premier League football is essential (longer term fans who feel the club owe them for their support and PL football is their reward for their loyalty through the difficult times)

I don't think there is a plethora of good quality centre backs out there as Mick McCarthy also wants to strengthen in that department so I can't see us bringing in a replacement before selling Dunk. Probably best for us to keep what we have and concentrate on other areas of the squad along with a lesser quality backup centre half for cover

Are you saying that Bournemouth will upset his team mates at Bournemouth by saying that, so we can get him?

you really are like a dog with a bone. give it up - we are not going to resign Elphick. or cook.

No I think it was just an untimely comment that has been jumped on. I believe that we have no chance with Cook but Elphick will struggle and will be replaced by Distain so an offer from us could be considered. Obviously CH has a CB in his sights but nobody knows who, I just suggested Elphick COULD be an option.

Why? The club must have a plan in place if he was to leave. Targets would have been identified. If we got 5m for Dunk and that enabled to get two central defenders in for say 1.5m each, plus got th Marshall deal over the line. We'd still have further money left for additional players. What's not to like about that? I appreciate its getting very late in the day and the start of the season is on us. The sale of dunk could mean we have a much better squad and chances of staying up/promotion.
Doesn't quite work like that though. If we got 5 mil for Dunk and bought 3 players with the 5 mil then it's still 3 lots of wages vs 1 by keeping dunk. That's why I think we will keep dunk and get s CB and a winger to sign perm, then look at loans.

I would imagine Dunk is in for a huge pay rise either way. Will Brighton want to double his wages to match a Fulham offer? Or sell and get two central defenders in. Fulham still get parachute payments. If he wants to go, he's gone.

Yes imagine the club selling a player during the transfer windows, the only time when they're allowed to.

Agree that if the player wants out, then all you can do is try to max the fee. Things is trying to replace Dunk will be more costly than the amount you quoted. I would rather the 2m offer for Marshall goes through and also get a decent CB in for a free or around 1m. Than sell Dunk for 5m. I would imagine the Albion would hope the same. Trouble is if Fulham up to 5m plus add ons to 7 and Dunk leaves at the end of the window, then we have no time for a replacement ala Ulloa. But really selling our best to get money to buy mediocre is what we did last season and I think and hope the Albion have learnt from that.

These are the very souls who will complain the loudest when that day comes -- the prices, the plastic, the hype, the impersonal corporateness of it all.

And the pointlessness, because once you've reached the Promised Land, you're still nobody if you're not in Europe. Endless scuffles to maintain mid-table at best, as far as the eye can see.

O ye of little faith

Why would we sell to a rival and this close to the start of the season? and whats to say that Dunk would want to move to Fulham anyway?
I can only see us selling to a Premier League club and so far, none have made an offer. We have always said that if a good offer came in from a big (ie top flight) club then we will not stand in the way of the players career but it has to be right for everyone.

We turned down several bids for Ulloa from a Premier League side so even if they were a top flight side, it doesn't mean we will sell if the deal doesn't suit us (and selling Dunk to Fulham this close to the transfer window to a rival doesn't suit us.

We're not selling him to Fulham for £5 million. We seem unable to sign one centre-back, let alone two.

watching paint dry would have been more entertaining than watching Brighton at the end of last season.

I'm told being taught by this guy was as watching paint dry also. University of Chicago Law Professor Barack Obama.
