I think a lot of people get too hung up with hygiene these days. The cleaner things are the quicker germs become resistant.

I particularly hate the hand dryers in the South Stand Ladies' lavs. There are 4 of them. However, three of them appear to take turns in not working.

I prefer paper towels over hand dryers but don't actually think it's particularly healthy to disinfect yourself out of existence! Only if the lavs were disgusting enough to suggest that sort of precaution was necessary I wouldn't use 'em in the first place. And I totally agree with dougdeep's comments.

The hot air blowers in the Brewery Tap are a bit special - they blast you with hot air as you walk INTO the bogs. Not saying the bar's dirty or anything...

I agree.
If you don't get dirty (so to speak) then you don't build up resistance to germs.

We were recently treated to a three hour training session on infection control at work, in preparation for future flu pandemics (overall result - third of us will be off sick, a third will be off caring for sick relatives and the remaining third will only be able to do minimal duties, so no plan made....). The medical expert stated that when you wash your hands it should be for the time it takes to sing "Happy Birthday To You" all the way through, slowly, twice. Who's got time to dry their hands after that?

The Dyson Airblade is the ultimate hand drier. First time I used it I was so amazed I actually washed my hands for a second time in order to experience it again.

Agree with the door handle quote although bigger public toilets have push doors now.

Those are in use at one of the service stations on the M1 (Toddington?) and are very quick but I still think hot air carries more germs than paper towels
