I was thinking of taking my drone pilot's test. Looks fun.

I bought a Qinux Drone K8 for £60 on an offer. It's very lightweight and doesn't need any licence etc. Very good fun toy, no GPS but the camera is very good. It comes with spare rotors and a spare body. Being lightweight it is easily blown off course by the wind. I got it to inspect my roof and guttering and it has worked well. I did lose it for 24 hours but someone found it for me, it had been blown over adjacent houses and crash landed on a dustbin, with me running after it shouting 'come back'! Stupid boy!

Good fun drone nonetheless.

Love my drone. It was a lockdown purchase. Got the DJI2 Mini. £250. I paid £400 back in the day. Easy to use, 4k camera. Can fly 8k in distance. Incredible bit of kit. It is the best quality drone for the price. It's worth paying that bit extra.

I have the Dji mini3 it's below 250g in weight so you do not need a licence for it. I use it for work. It's a lot of fun and surprisingly easy to fly at a basic level. It is fun.

Probably a very good time for us all to buy and fly one. WW3 will be fought with a huge variety of Drones used for attack, defence and scouting and observation...even us old timers can, and maybe will, take part in the war.

Anyone got one?
Are they fun?
Recommendations for beginner.

Comments about military drones not required. This is for leisure use only, ta.
I got given a Mavic Pro 2 (2 of them actually), it's a remarkable piece of kit! For me, you need to have a purpose for it, be it photography, work, whatever otherwise you're flying up down, left, right within a few hundred feet of yourself which will get boring pretty quickly :). Whether or not you end up with a drone that needs licencing or otherwise, strongly advise you to get to the A2 CofC level giving you the right education on safety and the law etc - So you don't end up like this chump https://www.brightonandhovenews.org...shows-drone-crashing-into-fatboy-slims-stage/

I have the DJI Mini 4 Pro and love it.
I often ponder if flying a drone is more enjoyable than sex.
From what I remember, yes it is.

How long is the battery life?
About 30 mins, but it can work out how long it will take to get back to the co ordinates that you flew it from. So if you flew it out 3km and that took 10 mins... it will automatically start to fly back to you when the battery life has just 10 mins left. Obviously i wouldn't advise this as being that high up, wind can play havoc.

Sounds like fun I like the look of the next one up with screen built into the remote.

If it's really expensive it does make flying it a little more nervy. I don't know what the dji mini 3 and 4 are like but i do like my remote linking to my iphone. Means i can get my photos instantly on my phone. So you do still get a screen with the dji mini 2 but its yur phone connected to the remote.
