My flight to Gatwick is now cancelled. And EasyJet can’t fly me until Saturday night. And I have a reservation at St John tomorrow lunch time....I like a challenge!

The worst thing with these cancellations is that you get moved to the next available flight but, at busy times of year, there aren't too many empty seats on following flights so you can wait many days if not weeks to get a seat.

Given the time of year, Saturday evening doesn't sound too bad, restaurant booking aside.

This kind of carnage cannot be allowed to continue. I think we're getting to a point now where there needs to be much stricter regulation and control on the sale of drones. Currently anyone can buy them as toys and basically do what they want with them, but given the dangers and havoc they are causing now, maybe they need to be licensed and registered to an owner (18+), in the same way you'd have to if you were buying a gun. Don't make them so readily available to the general public.

It wouldn't completely eradicate the problem overnight, but its a step in the right direction.

Worried about mine bit seems fine (although not boarding yet)

Don't worry, I'm sure Ernest can start a funny thread about it - will crack you up :rave:

My understanding is they are geo-locked if you register them. Its a classic case of technology moving faster than legislation

Waffle about this on radio 5. Talk abeout regulation based on the weight of the drone.....bit late now the horse has bolted I would imagine.

Damn you, I'm now watching it to find out where its going to end up. Bonnie Scotland looks likely now.

Glasgow. Flipping Heck. There are bound to be people on that flight with onward connections for Christmas who are now 100's of miles from home. Even passengers just flying back to Sussex are now in Scotland. I bet they keep them on the plane as well whilst re-fueling, waiting for Gatwick to open.

Agree. The main objective is to get to the U.K. at the mo.

When the flight was cancelled it logged onto the Disruption Management part of the EasyJet app and in the few seconds I took to decide which option to take I saw in real time tomorrow’s and Sat morning flights disappear as they became fully booked. It was a weird feeling. As an aside I’m also going to Bournemouth, so Saturday night was not a good option.

All that said, I’ve just booked a Eurowings flight at 5pm to LHR.

Doesn't help you, I know, but coincidentally I've just secured a last minute cancellation for St Johns for Saturday lunchtime. What are the chances of that?!

Some train companies are offering journeys on production of boarding passes. LNER are according to Twitter.

He said he likes a challenge dont make it easy for him

What’s easy about hiring a car, driving 700 miles and leaving the hire car in another country (I’m not returning directly home)
