[Misc] Drinking tea in the evening

Lots of tea has always (40 years) been drunk in this household at any time of day, but particularly in the morning and then in the evening, even last thing at night, which would usually be decaff.

We like good (not instant) coffee as well - lavazza, normally - but tea rules.

Yep, I'm enjoying my tea more every since a Sri Lankan client bought me back a Dilmah 100 bag 10 variety selection. Instant coffee can do one!

I have visited the Dilmah tea factory.
Had a cup after the tour, no milk or sugar just hot spring water and tea, it was the finest cup of tea I have ever had.
I like those specialist shops that sell lots of different teas and I sometimes buy Ceylon from them, but Yorkshire is my supermarket tea of choice.
I drink about 6 mugs of tea a day from 6am to 7pm.
Hate coffee.

Just discovered Twinings English Breakfast tea and finally moved away from PG Tips.

Gold Blend coffee with the occasional Kenco Millicano when I need an extra boost

I've consumed tea all throughout the day (and night) for as long as I can remember, but over the last few years have switched to decaf after around 7pm.

I can't abide tea AT ALL. I've given it a fair crack of the whip but it's not for me. Basically a mug of bum water.

Then I started having a cup on weekend mornings.

Then I started having a cup most mornings, and then multiple cups in a morning.

But just now I walked into the kitchen and though "oooooh, I fancy a cup of tea". This has never happened at this hour before.

Is this a journey travelled by many? Is it just a getting older thing? Will I be eyeing up cocoa in the supermarket soon?

It's a getting old thing. Accompanied by getting up in the night for multiple wees as a result of said late night tea drinking.

Whilst you're all off mincing about with your honeydew sencha's and Ceylon abysmals make mine a double espresso, no milk no sugar just COFFEE.

I'm stunned there are so many tea-deniers on NSC. I feel we need a poll of some sort.

If I'm awake then I'm ready to drink tea. I'm not sure what it is, but sometimes, maybe half a dozen times a year everything is aligned just so, and I have the perfect cup of tea. It's hard to explain, most cups are good, some are poor, but rarely, they are almost life changing.

I have my 11 year old well trained in tea making, just as my father trained me. My two year old screams unless we also make her tea, so we've got some decaff for her - get them started earlier if you want a true Brit. The one year old has been given a bit of leeway though.

Work-made tea is the most variable in quality, I find. Depending on how well they washed the mug up last time, how fresh (or not) the milk is, and how long the maker has left it to stew in the mug.

On the tea subject, I'd always found green tea quite unpleasant, but then went on holiday to Vietnam last year, and found the local variety to be pretty nice. They drink it sweetened, which made it more palatable.

Very.

If I'm not going to be around to drink it immediately, even if I'm just popping into the shower, I ask for it not to be made.

A poll on the sequencing of things going into the cup would be interesting. I'll get onto it right away.

Drinking tea also needs to be more sociable. Nobody ever asks to meet up for a tea, it's always a coffee.

Speaking as somebody who hates coffee, this is (slightly) annoying.

Nothing old about drinking tea. I've seen documentaries about the 1st world war, where the British troops are all drinking tea in the trenches just before going over the top.

I *only* drink tea in the evening.

Strong coffee first thing, weak coffee during the day at work, but when I get home I often quite fancy a cuppa.
