If you are going to get your train tickets on the day, for £2 you can add PlusBus+, allowing you to use Brighton and Hove buses all day. When you come out of the station, look for a no.7 going to the Marina, jump on, and ask the driver to let you out second stop up St. James Street. There's a pub there called The Spotted Dog. Absolutely the best selection of real ales, lagers and wall-to-wall sports fans watching Sky Sport's finest offerings. Colours are not a problem, and you will be sure of a welcome. Tell them Legs sent you

The Duke of Wellington was 'regulars only' last week. I suspect that was a Spurs thing only though.

I believe Spurs bought a few 'naughty ones' down last week...can't imagine Donny doing the same!

For a boozer that opens early and serves breakfast there is always Weatherspoons on West Street directly down from the station, but nearer the seafront.

Have you tried 'Spoons' food before?!

They had the same policy at the Huddersfield game, I only went up there to see my mate - as he'd left by the time I got there I didn't know anyone else so wasn't allowed in.

The Spotted Dog? What ARE you talking about? There is no Spotted Dog up St James' St. Is this some kind of joke I don't get?

If you get off a bus at the second stop up the street you're outside the Co-Op and the nearest pub is the newly done up Royal Oak, which is now run by the same folk who run the Basketmakers in North Laine. They do have good ales but they certainly don't have wall to wall sports fans or tvs. The next closest pubs would be the Camleford Arms, which is a gay bar, and the Ranelagh. Neither of these places have tellys either.

So I ask again, WHAT are you talking about?
