But if you dont doesnt that effectively mean the end if free speech. So on your example if an action is likely to be greeted with violence even though you can do something you shouldnt. If Muslims didn't mind, would they do it? Of course not, it's purely to wind them up. And people wonder why there are a large number of young Muslims growing up thinking 'the west' hate them.

Yes. But Christians have to put with people taking the piss. There is any amount of blasphemy and mickey-taking and people do it with impunity as they know that all 99.9999% of Christians will do is roll their eyes or perhaps write a stiff letter (which in turn will be mocked).
I'm tempted to say that the people who say we should respect the sensitivities of other cultures could start by respecting Christianity, but frankly I think taking the piss out of anything and everything is all well and good and there are no sacred cows (literally).. However as Stat Brother says "Just because you can doesn't mean you should', and this 'competition' was possibly ill-conceived.
This event shows stupidity is the route of all evil.
Comparing protests against comparatively modern day slavery by those that were enslaved, with wilfully inducing a violent reprisal for no other reason than you can, seems somewhat of a stretch.

Anyone who takes these sort of things in their own hands are doing it not in the name of religion but in the name of their own greedy,selfish, arrogant & evil view on how other people should conform and life their life's. These evil people will be horrible human beings in every manor of life.

Hardly. Sounds like the event was organised to be racially offensive to Islam. I'm not suggesting violence is the answer but the group who organised this event need to take a long hard look at themselves. I would hope they'd be arrested for inciting racial hatred.
Muslims need to understand that the actions of a few do not mean they're hated by everyone, just like we need to understand that the acts of some Muslims doesn't mean that all Muslims hate us.

Unfortunately I don't think that's the case. There are many that commit crimes that they wouldn't have, had they not believed in god. Their belief has made them a target to be radicalised, and has helped with their radicalisation.
