Leeds United have set their sights on Crystal Palace manager Iain Dowie as the man to get the club back into the Premiership. (Daily Mirror, Daily Mail, The Independent)

Unless Leeds get someone to throw more than £100m at the problem they're going the way of Shef Wed - Dowie has performed a miracle this season and even though it's Palace, I have to admit that if he takes them up, across the divisions, he's gotta be on a the very short list for manager of the season

If this story is true (and that's a big if, these are just media rumours so far) then it would suggest that Leeds have learned nothing from the last few years.

The club's £50m in debt (and rising) and so it sacks its manager, possibly entailing a pay-off, and poaches a manager from another 1st Division club - therefore paying compensation and probably an inflated salary (as something would have to tempt away).

For this reason alone, I suggest this story is a load of old pony. Leeds' directors couldn't be that stupid ... could they?

Eddie Gray is only caretaker manager so there would be no pay off if he were replaced.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if "Leeds have learnt nothing from the last few years"

As it is traditional not to like P*l*ce then I have to say that I would want Dowie to go, but in all honesty I would far rather Leeds went down the swannee than P*l*ce.

Stick with what you've got, Ian, you're better off.

Yes, but he was a coach before that. I was only guessing at a possible pay-off, you may well be right.

I think if hes offered it he would go.
Massive club and look at the support, sure they have no money, but they would still be odds on to go up as champions next season.

Do you fancy having a bet on that? I'm having a bet on them going down next season, I doubt whether they'll be in the top half of the table.

If I was Dowie, I would stay at Palace. Smaller club, but a team on the up and the bigger job offers will come along again soon enough.
