It depdends on the openings really. For each opening window crank the price up. Having a basic window you should get it for under 2.5 k, if you go into more involved things, like haing 3 opening in one large window or something, then I doubt it. Measure them up, take a few pictures if you can and go to your local B&Q or the like and ask them to quote for supply, and supply and fitting.

May not apply to you, but you can get grants for double glazing if you're on low income, or are getting any kind of benefit (Job seekers, income support etc etc).

All a part of the Governments scheme to make our society greener.

In England you are eligible for a Warm Front grant if you:

Have children under 16 and are getting Child Benefit or with a maternity certificate, and getting one of more of the following - Income Support, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit, income-based Jobseeker's Allowance, or Pension Credit

Are getting one or more of the following - Attendance Allowance, Disability Living Allowance, Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (which includes Constant Attendance Allowance), or War Disablement Pension (which must include the mobility or Constant Attendance Allowance)

Are getting one or more of the following - Income Support, Housing Benefit or Council Tax Benefit, when they include a disability premium

Are 60 or over, and getting Income Support, Council Tax Benefit, Housing Benefit, income-based Jobseeker's Allowance, or Pension Credit.

Also whether you use plastic or wood (hard or soft and FSC timber) 0r steel or aluminium.

Whether you use plastic or glass and if glass, the clarity and insulating value of the glass.

Plus whether you just have air between glass panels or argon gas.

Plus whether you go for triple glazing.

If you do go for wood, we found that FSC hard wood was actually not that more expensive than softwood. For 6 windows about £150 extra. Plus don't paint the windows but go for a stain. Prefably with low CO2 emissions.

Plus whether you want your windows to remain fixed, open, if open, can they be disengaged - allows windows to be cleaned from the inside or tilt and turn.

We went for the full bollocks.

But are trully happy and will have great insulating windows for years to come, with minimal maintenance.

What company are coming tonight? If it's one of the 'big ones' you will have a job getting rid of him without placing an order.
Also, haggle LOADS. He will start at £20,000 and come down to £12.50!! (ish)

if you are fitting yourself you need planning permission .
if you get someone to fit them for you they need to be a member of FENSA. this gives you protection and you know that the fitters work has been cleared by a proffessional body.

Just DON'T buy from 'Anglian' !!
I worked for them for a short while, and they are a RIPOFF!
The material they use is no different from most of their competition, but they talk it up, lie about the other companies, are EXPENSIVE, installers are often cowboys and take WAY longer than projected to take, they telemarket you to DEATH if you even buy one item from them.

They say they guarantee everything, but they still get leaks, and try getting them out to fix anything! The glazing has some sort of 'inert gas' inbetween the panes, but this eventually sinks to the bottom of the panels, and it doesn't do anything anyway.

Anglian = shite.

I used to be involved in home improvements and regularly replaced windows with double glazed units.
I used to deal with Hayden at South Coast Glazing in Peacehaven, the price of double glazing is often bumped up by the stupid cost of installation.
To buy them is quite reasonable, when I didn't have time to fit them myself he gave me a number of one of their fitters who would do it for a very reasonable cash price, worked for me and in one instance saved me about 750.00 quid.
He may still work there give him a ring.
