I once had a girlfriend with a double barreled surname. The funny/tragic part was that in a cringing Hyacinth Bucket way her dad had amalgamated his middle and last name in an attempt to boost his social standing.
The banging your head on the wall part was that this gave the family the surname......... Graham-Taylor!
Or imagine Willie Donachie’s daughter marrying Phil Babbs son.Imagine if Katarina Johnson-Thompson and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall got married and decided to keep all of their names.
The latest craze to retain maiden names within the confines of marriage is also pure affectation.
Ah, Miss Whiplash perchance?Mrs Wz carried on using her maiden name when we got married 33 years ago. It was what she was known as in business and she didn't want to get all the literature and everything else associated with her businesses changed
To be fair to her, no woman is going to want the surname Tubthumper. My wife kept her own name. Saved a lot of hassle.

Quite by chance, Mrs P and I have the same surname. Strangely causes a lot of confusion having the same surname but not being married. My wife kept her own name. Saved a lot of hassle.
