Sitting tight

21/ 1/2009

THERE has been no transfer activity at cash-strapped County this week.

However, with just 10 days to go until transfer deadline day, boss Jim Gannon has again stated that he expects that situation to change.

Gannon said: "The situation is very much ‘sit and wait’ at present.

"But people are aware of our situation at the club, and they’re aware of the quality of our players.

"We are expecting offers, but I’m sure it’s going to go right down to the actual transfer deadline.

"We’re waiting for a few situations to materialise.

"There are lots of phone calls going on between myself, other managers and agents, and between our chairman and other chairmen, but at the moment we’ve only had one firm offer and the player involved turned that move down.

"We’ll see what happens over the next week or so, but for now the players are very much focused on Saturday’s game at Oldham."

Should County lose a player or players very close to the close of the transfer window on January 31, they would quickly be able to draft in loan replacements as the emergency loan window re-opens on February 7.

Gannon already has a few potential captures in mind should that scenario arise.

We currently have no decent left back, we look to buy what looks like a good left back. Terrible.

Yes we need a midfielder, I'd say we need at least two, but getting in what we need in other areas is certainly no bad thing. Bloody moaners.

Perhaps I am wrong but I belive our most important need is somebody o put the ball in the net. With Murray out injured if Forster doesnt score we dont score end of story.

I actually thought Kerry looked alright when he came on last night

Me too, in fact he was better than most on the pitch, though that's not saying much! He's a perfectly adequate left back for the lower half of league 1. Also, Adams brought him back after Wilkins let him go, so he might as well play him or we could have saved Mayo's wages.

I'd just be happy to sign anyone who can actually pass the ball 5 yards forward to another Albion player! Is it really that difficult?

I know Lynch's days are over for us, but we could actually also do with a centre half that could occasionally bring the ball out of the back and get the midfield involved rather than just smashing it hopefully forwards. There's not a single defender in the squad that has any ability on the ball.

top post that finchley gulls been pissin me off all morning !!!who is he micky adams or dick tight??

Why is it because someone says something backing the board or the manager, they are seen as arse licking or as the poster you are congratulating so politely put it? The fact that you refer to Knight as Dick Tight says it all anyway.

I must myself be in that bracket, because I agree with FG. We, like you, are entitled to our opinion, and just because we don't go for the 'thick, no other solution so may as well sack him option' and choose to act as a supporter doesn't mean anything other than the fact we are in support of the club. I am not blinkered by anything going on nor am I in awe of Adams or Knight so why would I feel the need to do 'arse lick'?

Great response. Seems you can't utter a word of support for the club without this being suggested by people like you....

Exactly.

Isn't this the sort of player we want to be signing?

A promising young full back with good reviews moving down the league table because he can see some ambition at the club. It's nothing if not encouraging, IMO.
