Looks like we got lucky we could have wasted £95m on a Lukaku and £50m on a Werner. Tammy Abraham must have been really crap if he was behind these two

Seriously, I don’t. I’ve never been more proud and more entertained and it’s a joy to see the whole team loving it. It’s almost as if Potter has created virtually two first elevens that can mix it with the big boys. So, please don’t bring in a big money/high wage Jonny who might score a few goals but will massively upset the apple cart and not be prepared to work anywhere near as hard as the other 9/10. We all know that we have something special here, let’s not spoil it.

Top Shout Bro, !

Maupay had three chances tonight that he should have done better with.

Support/competition is surely the next step in our development.

We would surely be pushing for Europe with a more clinical finisher?

A more clinical finisher and we'd be pushing City.

Not hyperbole - drawn 11 lost 4.

This is the best of times and yet in true Albion style still lacking something.

Maupay and Wellbeck aren’t exactly prolific they just work hard, we have back ups in Fergusson and others so as long as they have been trained the Potter way I don’t see as we have a problem. We haven’t really had a striker since Murray left and it’s not stopped us from moving on. Let’s be patient and not greedy.

?17 year old backup……

That’s a lot of pressure.

Last night was magnificent, but we remain a striker away from being a great team.

Last night was frustrating watching the forwards. Welbeck is class but completely missed the ball Billy Paynter style with a presentable chance and 2020 Maupay subbed on last night. He could have had a hat trick but didn't even get a shot off.

Both have won us points this season and played well but they were the weak links last night. I thought pre game that Alazate would struggle - he was bullied out the game at West Brom - but he was absolutely superb.

Strange times where there is a tinge of dissapointment not seeing the Champions of Europe off. It is remarkable how well a team with arguably half the better players out can dominate a game against top class opposition. It would probably do us all good to have Big fat Sam to come in as guest manager for 6 games to realise how good we've got it.

Exactly! Chelsea’s multi multi-million £ array of stars weren’t exactly banging them in all over the place!

Should’ve gone for Chris Wood???

Danny Welbeck is great, but those 3 chances last might all fell on his left, and he most certainly is not left foot dominant

Lampteys Cross in the 6 yard box where he was on his heels and moved it sideways, Websters Messi run where he just watched him and didn't go near post, the one that cannoned off his heels when he would have been 1 on 1 and Trossards cross that was waiting to be buried.

As I said earlier, he's been good this season but was poor last night.

Isn't the issue with the one that cannoned off his heels with the bad pass? You don't pass the ball there if he's trying to run through. Even with the Webster one, you would expect a cut back(that's not to blame Webster) ,

How about we get a striker that isn't called Jonny and doesn't upset the apple cart? Confident we can find one of those

We probably have one in the club already.

What we don't need is someone like Lukaku who seems to want the tactics be about his style and a refusal to adapt to the team.

I agree that we have missed loads of chances and therefore our points tally is probably lower than it could be but is there any guarantee that a £40 /£50 million striker would have got us those goals or would we have become too dependant on him?

I disagree. The way we’re playing is I think the best I’ve ever seen (40 years) however I’ve seen BHA have more exciting teams that score more goals in the division they’re in.
I don’t want more strikers but I do want better strikers. Welbeck put 2 very good chances over the bar tonight when at least one has to hit the target, Maupay had a stinker when he came on (it happens). If we can upgrade one of those two with a striker who can fit in but is just more clinical then we’d cement top 10 or possibly higher and I’m not taking the piss.

It seems to me that we've drawn 11 matches. If we had a striker who can score one more goal in 5 of those matches then we'd have 10 more points, and our apponents would jointly have 10 less points. so we'd be top 5?

and if my aunt had a beard she'd be my uncle.

With the Webster one I'd expect him to run on and someone else (Macallister drifts well into these spaces) go into the cut back space. I think he was as surprised as everyone else when he kept going. You may well be right about the bad pass, we had a few last night that were close but no cigar to being good. It happens, I'm sure he will get a goal from nothing again before the season is out.
